Sounds wonderful, Sarah. I don't think I have the patience to do this, plus I'm trying to generally steer away from white breads and carbs, which of course I totally love!!!!!!

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I don't use sugar in hot tea either. Honestly I orefer the kool aid mix type fake iced tea to real iced tea for some reason. The 4c mix or something like that. We quit buying soda probably 2 or 3 years ago. Every so often I go to the store and think I'll grab a 20 oz. Soda. The stuff is so sweet I can hardly stand it now. Really only get soda at parties or restaurants. If I go to the gas station I usually grab a milk or juice now. I used to drink so much soda it is strange how bei g away from it has turned me off from real sugary drinks now.

Sarah | 18550 comments I went on the chinese cooking course last night which was fantastic. We learnt how to make vegetable chow mein, shitake wontons, sweet spicy aubergine, black bean tofu with peppers, szechuan greens with garlic and egg fried rice. It was all so tasty and easy. I can't wait to get started on these dishes at home.

My loaf of bread is probably going to be a flop. Because I've been working and out in the evening, I didn't get chance to bake the bread so I kept it cool and brought it out last night to prove but it's gone a bit far now. It's currently in the oven. We shall see what happens. Hopefully, I can plan a bit better for the next one I make.

I actually prefer the "kool aid mix type" as a hot beverage rather than cold.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I have just got the new navigation bar. I quite like it but there doesn't seem to be any way to log off or edit your profile. Does anyone know how to do that?

message 1207: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments If you hover your mouse over your profile picture (top right corner) there's a drop down menu which has a sign off button and also a button to go to your profile.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments A while back I heard Carson had agreed to be VP on Trump ticket. Well he hasn't been asked to be VP but is endorsing Trump this afternoon. I just don't get it. As Republican nominees have been dropping out and supporting Trump I have been watching reoublicans one by one come out saying they don't understand how their candidate could back Trump. Add me to the list now.

Got it! Thanks, Peggy!

message 1210: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie @Travis...I don't get it either :( I'm afraid but looks like a trump will get the republican nod :( unless Rubio or Cruz can take it but I don't see that happening. I hope I am wrong though.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I just got home from my brother's wedding. Long, fun day. But happy it's over. He was so very chuffed, and really, that's what's important.

message 1212: by Peggy (last edited Mar 11, 2016 06:23AM) (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Glad you had a good time Rusalka!

I feel a bit sad for my boyfriend. He's the manager of a store that deals in car parts (among other things), which is one store in a chain of 15 or so, but his is the biggest because it's also a central logistic point and he has most personnel and all that. He's doing great in that job, but he doesn't like it. It's too much stress, responsibility (even if he's on a holiday he will be held responsible for things that went wrong in his absence), too many hours, and I don't think there's any evening or day he's at home and he is not bothered by colleagues asking questions or calling in sick. He's not allowed to switch his phone of when he's at home, he has to be accessible all the time. He talked about all this with the guy who supervises him and they gave him a deadline for yesterday to decide whether he wants to continue or whether to step back (and be the second in command in his store, or perhaps the first one in a smaller store). He's been thinking about it but really the choice is simple. It makes him unhappy and stressed and he doesn't want to do it anymore. He's been very irritable lately, tired, hardly sleeps at night, has had an almost constant headache for the past two weeks and is eating painkillers like I eat chocolate, and I don't think any job is worth that. Also sounds a bit like he's heading towards a burn-out if he continues for much longer.

So yesterday he told his supervisor he wants to quit doing this, but today they told him that the 'higher-up people' don't want him to quit and that he should come up with stuff they can do so that he stays in the job. It feels like he's sort of forced to stay, which is also a bit of a compliment I guess, but I guess all the things he hates about his job are kind of inherent to it. It's not nice to see him stressed and unhappy, and I hoped it would be over by now, but apparently not..

message 1213: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments That sounds awful, Rus. It sounds like maybe his bosses are open to making changes to help him out though. First and foremost, he needs to convince them that he can't be available 24-7. If there are problems at the store while he is off, there needs to be someone else his employees can contact instead of him. If they don't make a true effort to help him out, he needs to tell them he will be looking for another job. Life is too short to be stressed over work all of the time.

Hmm... maybe I should take my own advice there. :-/

message 1214: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Sounds terribly stressing, Peggy. I hope they give him some relief after knowing he is having such a hard time.

message 1215: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments I agree with Kimey. Everyone needs down time. Maybe they need employees to take turns being on call, and your boyfriend contacted only if it's an emergency. To make him responsible for things that happen when he's away on holidays is ludicrous.

Tasha that sounds wonderful, Peggy!! I'm so happy for you. :)

We have a screened-in porch to use this year. I'm excited as well. It used to be an unsuable room housing kids stuff (everywhere!!) and now it's a beautiful outdoor room.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Enjoy your spring weather everyone.

I'm now officially off (well I'll sleep for 5 hours and then go), so I will be more AWOL than usual for the next month. I am off travelling to the Caribbean and the States for 4 weeks.

I'll check in when I can, but have fun, I'm not dead (yet) and see you all in April, where I will be much more active as I won't be working so much in preparation for leaving!

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments I just spent the last hour on Audible's chat because my wish list disappeared. So those of you who have a wish list on their website may want to check it out and let them know if you have any books missing. They have a known issue with the wish list and have given priority to fix it.

I was told that all 132 books on my wish list show on their end. But, they don't show on my laptop, PC (two different browsers), or my iPad. I hope they fix the problem and recreate my list because I don't really want to have to do it manually.
