We possibly could put in a claim for damages. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the problem is, what the extent of the damage is and what needs to be done to fix it before we decide. The engineer has just called and said he should be with us in about 30 minutes or so.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Oh no, Lisa! I hope they can get it taken care of quickly.

My Friday morning has started off crappily (yes, I made that word up) too. Nothing as dramatic as your problems though. I just have a coworker that loves trying to make people feel stupid. She tries to run the office and the bad thing is that our bosses won't do or say anything to her. I did have a little vindication when I asked our boss about what she was saying I did wrong and he told me I was right. The problem is that she creates an unhappy and tense working environment and I HATE confrontation. I can't stand having to deal with her when she is acting like she has been lately. I always feel like I'm having to be on the defensive with everything I say or do. It makes me despise getting up and coming to work.

Sarah | 18550 comments I'm excited as I've just bought tickets for a music festival in August. It's a smallish festival ran by the band The Levellers, called Beautiful Days. The lineup was announced at noon today and it's pretty good so we snapped up some tickets before they sell out. I like a good dance in a field. Highlights for me will be Leftfield, Afro Celt Sound System, Terrorvision, Reef, James, Billy Bragg, and of course The Levellers. We were thinking about going to see James in concert but the tickets were so expensive but this way we get to see lots more band for not a lot extra money. Result!

message 1110: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Nice Sarah. I got my disturbed tickets. Realized after that each show will cost about $50 or they had a oackage to go to all 3 rock shows this summer with a most basic feneral admission for $50. That pavkage sold out in less than 24 hours. I never boigjt tickets until like 80 hours on sale as we were waiting to aee how many needed to be bought and the last couple took forever to say yes

message 1111: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments It's a shame you missed the package. That's the thing when buying tickets totally ther with other people. My partner and i just bought ti ckets for the festival but a couple friends are intending on going but they can sort themselves out. Sometimes it works out ok whilst other times people kiss out due to tickets selling out. No metal bands at the festival I'm going to unfortunately but then it is more of a folk/punk/ska type of festival.

message 1112: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Problem is this is a new venue just built last year so we don't kniw if we needed to buy tickets together or if it didn't matter. We need to get a concert under a belt to understand the layout. I mean they have reserved seating under a roof for exoensive tickets but I cant see any seating at a metal show. All they had were country bands last year where people used reserved seating and general admission vrought lawn chairs. That is not the metal crowd. Too bad we will have to buy all the tickets before we even see one show this year so its a big guessing game. We are going to Korn as well but I can't freaking believe no one wants to go see slipknot and Marilyn Manson with me at this point. I mean youtube slipknot live. They are incredible

My husband and I were considering going to see Disturbed, Pop Evil, and Rob Zombie when they come to Nashville in May. But we waited too late to get tickets and now all that is available are "resale" tickets that cost like $200 each!

message 1114: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments There is a concert hall in Bristol which we went to see a folk band at. The whole venue was seating but ok for the band we went to see. Motorhead played there a couple years back and i can't imagine everyone being seated at that gig. I wasn't there so don't know what happened but I'm pretty sure those seats were fixed and not fold up. I've been to Earls Court and Wembley Arena to see metal bands. Lots of seating but people stand up and then there is the standing area/mosh pit. We always tried to get standing but weren't always able to so had to be in the seating area on a few occasions.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Our boiler is now up and running again! :) A pipe was leaking, it had been there a while from when our old boiler was installed and the pressure from the new boiler caused it to split. The engineer sealed it up initially but when he was testing it, it started leaking again. So in the end, he had to install a new pipe so he was here longer than he expected to be. The damage from the leak is very minimal, the wet patch on the living room ceiling is already drying but it will need repainting as it's leaving a bit of a yellow tide mark. At least we have heating and hot water again! The timing couldn't have been better either, as it has just this minute started snowing!

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I saw Godsmack motley crue, theory of a deadman, drowning pool and whoever opened for them at cruefest and had stadium seating. It was alright but not comfy to be on metal bench for 4 hours. Then they had fokding chairs where the mosh pit area should be. Godsmack was pissed. Sully was bitching at well he made it sound like it was the venue but really motley crue said no mosh just seating. Sully was really really mad his fans coukdn't rock out .

2nd time I saw godsmack security was trying to contain crowd. No seating there and finally Sully says everyone would be having a good time in front if thesr f-ing a-holes in the yellow shirts would let the crowd be. Wow. You want to see securoty get out the way fast. Have the frontman of the band call them out. They know they have 10 seconds til the crowd turna on them at a rock show. They nevwr interfered again

message 1119: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Godsmack actually wrote cryin like a bitch on the bus doing cruefest is directly aimed at motley crue they found out they have much different philosophies and godsmack frew to hate them. But crue is old now days.

I can't remember which band it was, but at a rock festival we were at a few years ago the band did this same thing. It was in a stadium so the floor was one big pit but then there were seats higher up for those of us that don't enjoy getting tossed around by the moshing crowds. Security kept trying to stop the people in the pit from moshing, and whichever band was performing at that time told them to back off and let the fans have fun. Security didn't break up a single mosh again. Not even at the same festival the next year.

I've got tickets for a weekend folk festival here in August, too. Headliners are Ruthie Foster (love!), Bruce Cockburn, Corb Lund and Ashley MacIsaac. There are apparently 30 artists lined up including these 4. I wonder if my client will be performing.

Speaking of whom, his company is owned 50% by another of my clients. I was offered a full time job this morning to be administrator for both companies, with lots of flexibility to keep my client base. I would continue to work out of my house for the time being. It would be a guaranteed wage regardless of the number of hours I work/don't work, with an overtime clause. I'm excited, but nervous. I have a decision to make.

Remember, it doesn't matter how hard it is to make a final decision, it's ALWAYS great to have options!

And in case you accept, be sure your new boss understands we need you here in YLTO. Tell him the time you spent here with us is not negotiable. :)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments My kids are starting spring break today. Yes. spring break in winter. Weird, I know. And useless, since most of the years is too cold to do anything outside. It's like having two Christmas breaks, and then wait until summer vacations to have some fun outside.

And also my oldest daughter is taking her SAT exam right now.

message 1135: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I have a song rumbling around in my head and I need the title so I can buy it.

It's from the 70's I think. And the chorus goes,

And she said Sha la la la la la la
It's gonna be alright
Sha la la la la la la....

It's a ballad and the chorus is sung in harmony.

We were singing and dancing to it the other wasted night and I can't get it out of my head.

Aww!

I don't know if I could ever think of him as my boss. I'd continue to think of him as my client. Instead of paying me by invoice, he'd pay me through payroll. One of the things that attracts me to this opportunity is that I would likely keep my autonomy. I can't see him getting all "boss-like". It would be more like a collaboration - like it is now. At least I hope it would be that way.
