I learned something new last night while watching Inside the NBA (I love Charles Barkley). The question: What is a Canadian tuxedo? Answer: Denim all day :)
I went to school with Maureen Barkley's brother. I remember the buzz surrounding her dating Barkley...vaguely now though as it was years ago but your post reminded me of that. Looking at her now, I see she is 50 so she was probably about a grade or 2 above me.

I really notice days are getting longer, yay! I didn't go to work last week (Monday and Tuesday was closed due to Carnival, and the rest of the week I worked from home). But, the week before that, I had to cycle to the station in the dark and it was dark when I got back. I think tomorrow it will be light when I leave, and not yet fully dark when I come home.

That's cold! Our lower yesterday was 0 F (-18 C). Today is a little better with 8 F (-13 C). We are not going anywhere!
Sarah, i think you'll have a very funt time on the Segway outing. Very nice birthday present and idea!A few years ago i did a Segway tour downtown. I was worried going in, but the tour guide coached us and got us going in about 15 minutes. There were about 15 in our group. It was a total blast. Would love to do another tour. But probably when visitinganother city.
No one in our vroup fell off or ran into anything. And we were all just ordinary people - no super jocks, good mix of some from ages 20 to 70. We did find it slightly tiring, but our guide was good about giving us frequent stops and time to rest. It got easier the longer we went actually as our bodies learned which muscles to engage and it took less effort.
That's great to hear about your segway experience TJ. I am looking forward to it more now after hearing about everyone's fun and frolics.I had some fun last night. I went to see a band and before the band there were circus acts for about an hour, mainly aerial displays, all with a Valentine's theme. The acts were set to music which were all very suited to the piece. It was amazing. It was pretty cold though as it was in a warehouse. After the band, there was general music to dance to. All in all, it was a great night out. And i really want to learn how to do some of those aerial tricks. Now I'm hanging as it was a late night, although no alcohol was consumed.

They said apparently because they aren't what they are looking for in terms of customer service. They said he has all the right technical skills and he did a fantastic interview. Thing is, if they gave an external applicant an interview and they did fantasic they'd get the job right there and then, and have a 6 month probation period. So why not give Steve the chance. He said he enjoyed and the other odd tihng is that 3 secretaries used to work for the firm got promoted to the role Steve was going for, with no technical skills experience, so how is that fair? And an 18 year old apprentice has got the same role and he started with no experience whatsoever.. It's weird.

Wow Sarah that sounds kewl =] I have always loved the aerial silks. When they climb their way up on silk ribbons? and it looks amazing. Whenever I think of a circus now I think The Night Circus. What band did you see?
Segway's look fun, we went to the Lake District in May and we went to a little town and we saw people on Segway's they look fun. I think they did like a little training course on them first, a mini obstacle course and think that lasted about half an hour to an hour and then they were off. I only saw one person fall off, but not properly fall off, if that makes sense.
Ugh! I'm so frustrated!! Our apartment complex allows dogs, which yay!! But not everyone keeps their dog on a leash (which is against apartment policy). I took Blake for a walk and there was a little black and white dog (a Boston terrier I believe) that ran across the parking lot at us and got close! Luckily I had Blake's gentle leader on so I could control him(he had a bad habit of pulling me and he is really strong). The owner was across the parking lot with her other unleashed dog!! I yelled, no no no! And she called the dog back. Blake is not a fan of little dogs especially those that charge him! Blake was such a good boy though! He semi-reacted, got excited and jumped but I was able to control him. I did report it but I'm sure they won't do anything since I don't know who the owner is (it's a pretty big complex). I'm tempted to carry something with me when I walk Blake but I would hate to have to hurt another dog :( sorry for the long post..I'm just upset :(
I don't know why some people has so many problems sticking to rules...
@Sandra I wish I knew :( I'm so proud of Blake for not going crazy like he normally would. I've been working with him a ton to not over react when he sees another dog. I know I should stay calm when stuff like that happens but I don't :( I'm so worried that he will get hurt or hit the other dog that attacks him :(

I know some make you come in and get the dog/cat's picture taken and they take a description and weight. Unless it's someone who didn't register to avoid paying pet rent or fees, in which case, I'm sure management would want to know who they are.
@Sarah, the aerials sound amazing! @Stephanie, maybe you could get a water bottle, no a water gun, that shoots several feet, that way if a dog starts toward you and Blake you might could divert it with a stream of water. I don't know if it would work, but it could be worth a try.
@Bella..we do have to register our dogs with them, i.e. Dogs name, breed, etc. but yes not everyone does :( unfortunately when I told management they asked if I knew who they were and I didn't and she said she would try to figure it out but didn't even bother taking my information so I'm sure she isn't doing anything about it :( @KimeyDiann...that's an excellent idea! I have a spray bottle and the nozzle has a stream setting! Thank you :)
Bella, We have several unleashed dogs in my neighborhood. I walk with a small pop out UMBRELLA; it is unobtrusive but I can open it to shield Cocoa if I need. I haven't had to use but it gives me confidence to speak authoritatively to on coming dogs.
@Sarah - If you see The Invisible Circus advertised in Bristol, definitely check it out. We saw The Rin Tins - gypsy swing jazz folk fusion.
@Joan..I like your umbrella idea as well! I guess I never thought about caring one or a spray bottle before. This is the first place we have lived that people don't keep their dogs on leash like they are supposed to.

I haven't had to use but it gives me c..."What makes me frightened is that people who are irresponsible enough to let their dogs run loose probably aren't making sure their dogs are getting rabies shots. Another thing is that, I think, people don't realize how much damage even a small dog can do to a child. (And small children seem drawn to small dogs.) I say that because I had a toy poodle that ripped my husband's hand open. Imagine my dog biting a child's face.
I just came in from mowing my front and back lawns. It has been sunny and nice to be outside. Whew, I haven't pushed that darn thing since before Halloween. I'm pooped! Happy President's Day to us in the US and Happy Flag Day to those in Canada!
Okay, I'm embarrassed because I've never heard of Flag Day, so I had to google it. I remember when Canada inaugurated the new flag but I didn't realize that there was a day to commemorate it. At any rate, it is not a stat holiday. Today is a stat holiday in some of the provinces. Here, in Alberta, we call it "Family Day". Ontario & Saskatchewan also have a day off for Family Day. Manitoba observed "Louis Reil Day", and PEI observed "Island Day" as a stat holiday. All the rest of the provinces had to work. I think BC had it's Family Day last Monday.
I do my dad's taxes and he sent them to me last week. He keeps all the documents in their envelopes. As I pulled each document out and unfolded it, there was a $20 bill. There's reasoning behind this. When he dies, to keep us from just throwing things out, he's going to hide his money in things so we'll have to go through everything to get it. Imagine myself and my brother and sister (I'm sure their kids will be glad to help) riffling through books, unfolding linens, checking pants pockets, etc. He thinks this is so funny. I told him I was going to start writing down every time he couldn't think of something or did something silly, so that we could use it to have him declared incompetent and get control of his assets.
That's one way to get you to go through everything. :)I found a $20 bill in one of my client's paperwork the other day. I don't think it was a tip. I thought it best to let him know. So far, he hasn't replied to my email.

That is funny J'mom!I did something stupid yesterday. I left me mobile phone at a meeting! So frustrating. I feel lost. So now I have to traipse all the way up to the venue to get it today before I start seeing clients.
And we had another cold night last night. The canal is frozen again although not as think as last time. Looks pretty. But I can't take any pictures due to no phone :-(

We are having freezing rain today! So fun after the snow we had yesterday ;) the trees look pretty with the ice on them! I'm just glad I don't have to venture out today!

We're supposed to get to 77 today and 80 degrees tomorrow. Love it, but know we will pay for it with a blast of cold. Don't think winter is ready to give up for the year quite yet.I do wish it would snow and envy the people who have some. Yes, it's nasty outside here too, so I guess we are probably going to just stay here. They are having an OPEN SEASON marathon right now (movie 1 watched first thing in the morning, somewhere in movie 2 right now, planing to watch movie 3 too). They are not allowed to use the computers before 3pm. That way they are obliged to do "something" about all this free time.

I've been afraid to throw anything out without searching it thoroughly because who knows what she might have hidden where. She had several thousand dollars that she took out of the bank probably 10+ years ago that we have no idea what she did with. We are confident she didn't spend it and have continually hoped to find it hidden somewhere in her home. So far, no luck though. But every grocery receipt she ever had back to the early 1990's along with other useless scraps of paper dated back to the 70's, we've found tons of those! LOL.
So now besides our city being open-carry for guns and having the rock thrower on the interstate, we also have a serial rapist linked to another major highway (where our home is nearby). The info released by police isn't very helpful. They've given only the intersections of locations, but nothing solid about specifics, like if the women were attacked in parking lots or parks or dark walkways or what. He evidently keeps himself pretty hidden so very sketchy info about his appearance, height, etc.
So scary!

Well, I'm researching online and finding more details that are helpful. So it's the t.v. news stations, not police, that are being vague. Seems to be targeting women runners at public parks in early mornings and in early evening. But the most recent attack was middle of the day.

I never got the chance to use it but it sounds like it could work. As my brother's dog doesn't like it and runs off.
