@Kimey It's always free hand, never saw other ways of putting henna.

That just increases the beauty of it. You must have a very steady hand to make it so perfect. I can barely paint my toenails without getting polish all around the nails. I also can't draw a stick figure so anything that involves artistic ability counts me out. LOL.

I've had 4 days off, as it's Australia Day today so I took yesterday off to have 4 days in a row. I have been flat out, so I feel like I should have gone to work. I dropped Lexx at work yesterday at 9.30am, and then went and did shopping for food, house/garden supplies, travel supplies so I don't have to worry in a month's time, and clothes for travelling and weddings.
Finished all that by 2pm, went to my Mum's and then spent the afternoon fitting for my bridesmaids dress for my brother's wedding (we had to mail order it from a site, and the thing is ridiculous. I have no idea who they thought they were making the dress for, but my closest guess is a turtle. So much fabric on the back. Mum's going to have to rebuild the whole bodice) and my sari for the Hindu wedding in the Caribbean. Then family dinner.
Today, I want to read *some* of my book, but we have a street party with the neighbours that we really should go to, as we have lived on the street for 8 years and only know one house of neighbours. And we have to cook to bring stuff... urgh.
First World Problems if I have ever heard any!!

When we went to visit in California during the winter and it was 15C, my kids would be out in shorts and t-shirts and my mother would gripe a them to come in and put some clothes on.
It was 13C and sunny here in Portland today. I went out and ran errands at lunch just to get some sun. It is currently 10C here at 6:00pm and the clouds are moving in for more rain for the next week. No sun forecast until Tuesday of NEXT week for us.
Rusalka is having a fine day downunder @24C, but expecting rain.

I'd love to see a pic of your sari Rusalka. It's too early for me to know whether I'll be wearing a sari or a normal bridesmaid dress for my cousin's wedding. At least i don't need to think about what to wear as it will be chosen for me.
I can't decide whether to walk or cycle to the station today. It's not too far this time but it's really windy and it's forecast to chuck it down anytime now. Not sure which I'll remain the driest.

Australia Day is a weird one. I love having a random day to celebrate us (I think in a low key way is the appropriate way). But I recognise it is a very sad and hurtful day for other Australians. I think we need to find another day (in summer) to celebrate an inclusive and whole Australia.
But I'll never turn my nose up at a free day off work!!

I love saris. Their colours and the way you have to wear it is so unique and nice.

Friend who's wedding it is loves it, and my tailor mother says it's a perfect colour for me. So win!! Can't really go wrong with blue and gold though...
So this is the sari before the bodice is cut out of it and made (luckily I asked the question, as I wasn't sure where the blouse came from... apparently this is obvious to anyone who wears a sari regularly so everyone forgot to tell the Aussie). So it's 5.5m at the moment, and from our playing yesterday, it'll end up still being 4.5m after we make the top.

I have a sari my husband brought me from Hyderabad a few years ago. It's a mustard color, with gold a little maroon. I've never wore it, but my oldest daughter used it for a project on Indian clothes in 7th grade. She ended her presentation showing how you put a sari on (after watching a tutorial a thousand times). It was really cool. She got a A+, and all the kids in her class loved the idea, and wanted to try MY sari. The poor sari looks now as if I had used it every day for 2 years... :) But it's ok. I'm all about knowledge spreading! :)

My mom was given a yellow sari from one of the Indian teachers in the high school. My faulty memory says that she made 3 dresses from it - one each for herself, me and my sister, but I only remember my sister's. I just remember this cute little kid in this frilly bright yellow dress.

Thanks, I do love the colour. Was a good find

Oh! GR makes a different (mis)treatment for everyone. For me, it has the app cut off and impossible to install, since almost a year (before that, it worked though)
X-(

I minimise the amount of notifications as less as I could, just to save my battery.

Oh I will. I froze when I met the Law's on the weekend (Lexx couldn't believe how awkward and quiet I was... I just went blank!), so planning my idle chit chat well in advance this time :P

Hah! Ah well, they all had fun and learnt something... but I do shudder at the thought of all the grubby hands.

I haven't had time to read it, but it's going in the pocket.

I would love to eat at one of those restaurants 'for real', where you have many many of such small but very special and technical dishes. But it's so expensive so I've never been. Thursday it was still quite 'normal' food because they have to give the same to over 100 people and I guess you have to be careful so that everyone will enjoy it.
Today is VERY rainy and VERY windy. I went outside this morning to buy bread but that's it. I'm working today so that I can have Monday off (bf has Monday off too) and we can go shop for some stuff to decorate the new home. The walls are still empty. Oh, it's so nice to be in our new big kitchen, warm and cozy, with the wind howling outside and the rain against the garden doors <3

I'm a foodie and work in the industry and have been fortunate enough to eat at some really high end restaurants. Every time I go to them, I always have the tasting menu. It may seem like the expensive choice but actually it's the most value for money and you get to try more dishes.
If / when you can afford, definitely do it :)

It makes sense that it's most value for money, but if I compare the price to having a meal at a non-star local restaurant the difference is quite big ;-) I have to convince my bf though. He likes good food and trying new things, but he doesn't have the patience to sit down for dinner for hours and he doesn't like plates with beautiful but little food on it. But, my birthday is coming up. Maybe I suggest that as a present he can take me to one of those restaurants :)

Last year I made a Culinary Tour in Lima, Perú (the city has international renown in food matters). It was fantastic! I highly recommend to do it, to all the people who travels there

I was watching Masterchef Junior on tv last night. It was the finale with two 9 year old girls wowing the likes of Gordon Ramsay. It's just amazing.
