Yes, the topplers can be a bit confusing. Think of them as read-a-thons with tasks. The idea is to "topple" our tbr's, but generally they grow instead, because we add all the books everyone else is reading. LOL! And thanks, we like to think this is a fun welcoming group.

Hi, I'm Lisa Ann, I live in the US and I enjoy reading many different types of books including fantasy, historical fiction, non fiction and some beach reads. For the sub genres that I am not as enthusiatic about (such as steam punk or sci-fi) I try to keep an open mind anyway. :-) The last few days, I have been reading through the group threads trying to figure out the rules and how everything works before joining in.
Hi Lisa Ann. Welcome to YLTO. I hope you'll enjoy it here. Best thing is to just jump in and work things out as you go. We're happy to help with any questions. We have a week long read-a-thon (we call them topplers) starting Feb 20th. We have a lot of fun and it's a great way to get to know the members of the group.

Welcome, Lisa Ann! We have so many things going on that it could look confusing at first, but everything is so well planned and organized that it becomes natural in no time. Also everybody is always eager to answer questions and help here.

just wanted to say thank you! to all you busy mods and admins for this group. i have joined only recently but feeling all at home already :-) (and apologies for all my stupid beginner wrong postings - ehem)
Everyone takes time finding their way around, Caecilia. It's a busy group with lots going on and it can be confusing at first. So don't fret about making mistakes.

Hi I'm Sophie from London, UK. My favourite genres are horror, YA, chick-lit and fantasy and I have a bit of a weakness for reading challenges! I'm currently working my way through a 50 States challenge (only managed 7 so far), a book-movie challenge and a male/female characters challenge. Looking forward to maybe adding some more and getting to know you guys :)

Books we love.... I've got a long list. ;)My mother was an English teacher, and my dad was an avid reader too, so I got into reading early. I still love reading a book out loud to others (my children at present) and sharing in the discussion with others who love it. My reading interests range from Charles Dickens to William Faulkner to John Grisham to Anne McCaffrey to Tad Williams to Gene Wolfe to Louise Erdrich to Agatha Christie.
I've also written a novel too--if you might be interested in Cherokee culture, wolves, and romantic adventure.
