I've got that one to read as well, Kristie. I'm not sure when I'll get to it.

Mariab, I am using it for the 'read a book in the fantasy genre' task (New Zealand).
Finished Tell the Wolves I'm Home and rated it 4 stars, but most of the time it felt like a 3 stars to me. I guess I'm not in the majority regarding this one. I started Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter for the monthly challenge. I'm only a few pages into it, but it seems like a good read. If I have success and finish this one, it will be the first month in a long, long time, that I manage to read a monthly read AND a monthly challenge book. Finger crossed!
Finished Ester and Ruzya: How My Grandmothers Survived Hitler's War and Stalin's Peace1587646031
My review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/1587646031
I had a sleepless night last night so finished both books I was reading - The Poison Artist and Throne of Jade. Later today, I will start Canticle which is next on the list. I'm looking at it and thinking, "Why did I buy this?" It must have been in one of audible's sales. I hope it pans out okay. It seems odd to grudgingly start a book. We'll see.
The other book I'll start when I crawl into bed tonight (if I can keep my eyes open) will be Hatshepsut's Collar. It will be my London Tower pick for the geocache challenge.
I finished Tell the Wolves I'm Home (5 stars) and The Redbreast (longest lead-in in history for me. 250 pages and I was ready to chuck it and it finally got exciting!) I am currently back with the City Watch guys in Discworld reading The Fifth Elephant and trying to finish listening to The Man Who Would Be King and Other Stories. I think I need to find a paper copy for this.
Cherie wrote: "I finished Tell the Wolves I'm Home (5 stars) and The Redbreast (longest lead-in in history for me. 250 pages and I was ready to chuck it and it finally got exciting!)..."If memory serves me correctly, The Redbreast is the first book of three to carry that storyline. It's a bit of a nested series within a series, if that makes sense.
Janice wrote: "If memory serves me correctly, The Redbreast is the first book of three to carry that storyline. It's a bit of a nested series within a series, if that makes sense...."Yes, I could see it coming before I got to the end. There was a preview at the end of TR for Nemesis, but I did not read it. I don't want to know until I get there.
How did you like Temeraire #2? Are you going to continue? I could not stop reading them (actually, listening to them) until I got to the last one. I am waiting for #9 to be released.
I really enjoyed Throne of Jade. I liked the intrigue in the relationship between Temeraire and Lawrence. I'll definitely continue on with the series.
Janice wrote: "I really enjoyed Throne of Jade. I liked the intrigue in the relationship between Temeraire and Lawrence. I'll definitely continue on with the series."Are you listening to the audio with Simon Vance?
I finished City of Women by David Gillham & gave it 4 stars. Bit of a different side to Berlin during WWII. I'd definitely read more by this author.Today I'm going to start reading A Song for Issy Bradley by Carys Bray.
I finished Hatshepsut's Collar and learned some interesting things (view spoiler)But the book is rather shallow. I'm not sure I'll continue the series. If the next book crosses my path, maybe I'll read it.I'm not sure I know what I want to read next. For the last couple of years I've been attempting to read my books in the order that I acquired them. I listed them all in my Member Zone thread. I'm at that point where those earliest titles look tired and uninteresting. I've already decided to scrap Shantaram. It's too long and I'm not sure I have the energy to tackle it. The next on the list, The Forever Queen may not be as long, but almost as unappealing to me. I think I may have to scrap a number of them.
So while I was writing this whining diatribe, it occurred to me that I could start one of my geocache books. Problem solved. I shall start The Black Isle for my China setting.
I crawled into bed last night to start The Black Isle. The map shows the island to be in Indonesia. So much for that choice. Back to gophering for China.
I am currently reading four books:
The Art of Not Breathing - I haven't gotten far in this book recently. I'm at 57% and just creeping along. It's just been a struggle to get through for me and it's taking a lot longer than it should. To be fair, I don't think it's really a bad book. There are certain parts that I'm interested in seeing how they turn out. Unfortunately, there are other parts that I'm not interested in at all and the book seems to be stuck in those storylines at the moment. I hope to finish it soon and move on.
Stars Above - I'm almost through the fourth short story in this book out of nine stories. It is a fun book and it is interesting to see the backstories for the characters that we met in the Lunar Chronicles series. If you loved the series, I'd recommend this book of short stories. I'm really enjoying them.
Brother Odd - I just started this one. I'm only about 6% in, but I'm excited to get back into Odd's world. I really enjoy these stories. I'm curious to see where this one goes.
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender - Just started this one as well (9%), as it's currently in the lead for our BOM next month and I needed a bit of a headstart to fit in all my planned reads for June. What a strange, but fascinating story. It has started out differently than I expected, with the story of Ava's great grandparents and her grandmother as a child, obviously years before Ava was born. Very interesting and creative so far with good writing.
Just finished Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter for the month challenge (will report in a minute), and started I Let You Go. Only 16 pages into it and it has already been kind of intense...
I finished Under the Dome for the buddy read and geocache challenge and moved swiftly through Grave Witch for the monthly challenge which was very much needed after tension filled King chunkster. Now I'm squeezing in The High Druid's Blade before the next buddy read in June. I'm fitting this one in to the geocache challenge as well as reviewing it for netgalley.
I finished A Natural History of Dragons: A Memoir by Lady Trent for the geocache challenge. Here is my short review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I also finished Time and Chance for a buddy read. This is the second book in a series and it was another 4 star read for me.
I am now (finally) starting Dragonfly in Amber. I first read 'Outlander' back in 2013 so it has only taken me 3 years to pick it up!
I am reading First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers. Almost at the end. I would say if like me, you are not into reading history per se, this is a good non-fic to give you a preview of how bad things were in Cambodia during that time.
I didn't even start reading The High Druid's Blade before deciding that I'm not going to read it right now but start The Fireman instead because i just can't wait.
Sarah wrote: "I didn't even start reading The High Druid's Blade before deciding that I'm not going to read it right now but start The Fireman instead because i just can't wait."I've planned on taking two audiobooks for my road trip next weekend. The Fireman is one. I'm not sure if I'll get both read or not. I shall see how it goes.
I was holding off on it because the buddy read for the passage but i guess i can always put this aside or start that a couple days later.
Sarah wrote: "I was holding off on it because the buddy read for the passage but i guess i can always put this aside or start that a couple days later."Go ahead, Sarah. I'm not going to be online much while I'm gone. A break from the internet will be a good thing as well as a break from work. Apparently, the cabins have limited Wi-Fi access being in the mountains. I may not start listening to The Fireman until I'm on my way home, and as soon as I get home we start the buddy read for Mirrors.
Read All the Things We Never Knew: Chasing the Chaos of Mental Illness. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Also, read Disclaimer. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've not gotten too much reading done. I think the last time I was here, I was reading The Lies of Locke Lamora, which I finally finished, but had to buy it, because my loan expired, and there was a wait. Now I'm reading The Bone Clocks, which I like, but I feel as though I've been reading it forever! I still have 150 pages to go.On audio I finally finished the His Dark Materials series with The Amber Spyglass, and then I tore through the recently released The Girl Who Raced Fairyland All the Way Home, which I loved! It was my favorite Fairyland books, and it ended so lovely. Now I picked up Red Seas Under Red Skies on audio, hoping to gain some traction on my yearly challenge.
Tomorrow morning over breakfast I'm going to start A House in Fez: Building a Life in the Ancient Heart of Morocco, also for the yearly challenge.
Lynda wrote: "I've not gotten too much reading done. I think the last time I was here, I was reading The Lies of Locke Lamora, which I finally finished, but had to buy it, because my loan expired, ..."The Bone Clocks is a commitment. Not only is it long, but it's complex, so it seems longer.
I finished Daughter of the Forest and really enjoyed it. I gave it 5 stars. I was obsessed with listening to it.I'm not sure what I'll start next. I'll have to think on that for a bit.
I was very confused there, as I thought you meant this David Mitchell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_M... and I was scrambling to work out what he had written and why I didn't know about it. Worked it out.
I am in torment. I just got The Fireman,City of Mirror, and Everybody's fool in at the library. They are all huge. They are all books I really want to read. How do I choose?
Renee wrote: "I am in torment. I just got The Fireman,City of Mirror, and Everybody's fool in at the library. They are all huge. They are all books I really want to read. How do I choose?"Hold off on The City of Mirrors till the buddy read on Jun 6th. That narrows it down to two choices.
I decided to start The Rainbow and the Rose last night and get a one day jump on the group themed read. It's also going to finish off a site in my geocache challenge.

Funny! I was just about to tell her to start with that one, so she could do the buddy read with us.
Guess it depends how fast of a reader you are, Renee. I know I couldn't get through a chunkster before the 6th, but if you can do it, that's great. :) I plan to start City of Mirrors in another day or two.
I see what you're saying, Kristie. Yes, it does depend on Renee's reading speed. Everybody's Fool (is this the one you're reading Renee?) is 477 pages and the lightest of the three. If you're a speedy reader, you could perhaps start/finish it before the 6th and the buddy read for City of Mirrors.
Somehow, I don't think I'm being very helpful. I'll be quiet now.
Actually, that might be really helpful, Janice. Her page says that she reads 400-500 pages per week, so much more than I could! She probably could start with Everybody's Fool and still join for the buddy read. See how helpful we are, planning your reads for you, Renee? ;)
