Goat in the Garden is an Animal Ark book written in the 90s about kids rescuing a goat. However, it doesn't have a long title or a dark cover.

No problem, I read it when I was younger. I remember getting stuck on the word "rhododendrons"!As a side note, you may have been getting the title confused with "Quick, let's get out of here" which was a book of children's poetry from around the same time.
Yes I think you a right on the poetry front too!I only remember the rhododendrons as we had a big bush in our garden and I remember thinking, if I ever have to rescue a goat I better keep it away from that! Thanks again!
It had quite a long title with a statement like 'quick, let's go', 'stop, let's get out of here', I think. I think the cover was dark with a group of children on it.
Spoilers: the plot- I remember there's a goat that's being abused by its owner, locked in a dark shed and the children save it, possibly a pun about being kidnapped? I remember a discussion about what to feed the goat and not to give it rhododendron leaves as they are poisonous for goats.
Please help me remember the title! Thank you.
