I have not decided what I am reading for C yet. I am torn between "Career of Evil" by Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling. I previewed the first few percent on my kindle. The other is "Carry On" by Rainbow Rowell. Both are books I definitely want to read soon. Thoughts?

Others I considered: "The Cage" by Megan Shepherd, "City of Savages" by Lee Kelly, "The Conspiracy of US" by Maggie Hall, "Criminal" by Terra Elan McVoy, and "A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas which doesn't sound like something I would like, but has been highly recommended to me.

Books I have read that I would recommend: "Cinder" by Marissa Meyer, and "Crash" by Lisa McMann. I also liked the first Robert Galbraith book, "The Cuckoo's Calling," but I think the series gets better later.

Sherry Lister | 45 comments My "C" contenders are: "Cursed" by Jennifer L. Armentrout, "Chime" by Franny Billingsley and "Crash" by Lisa McMann. I generally read from the library so it depends on what will be availble soon.

I have had Jennifer Armentrout recommended to me before. Do you like her books?

message 4: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Lister | 45 comments I haven't read any yet. I have some saved to my "to read" list.

Brittney | 3 comments I agree with "Cinder" by Marissa Meyer - I had to finish that book quickly to find out the ending.

Is the Career of Evil a series?

Melody Hill | 22 comments I've decided to read Catch-22 as my first C book. An American classic that I have never read-we'll see how it goes.

It is the 3rd in a mystery/detective series. Each book is a new case, so it's not necessary to read them in order to understand, it just lets you get to know the detective and his assistant. But I feel like they are what keeps me coming back more than the new mystery.

I'm in the same boat. It's one of those I should have read and am embarrassed to admit I haven't.

Sherry Lister | 45 comments I will be finishing up my "C" book today! I'm enjoying it so much I believe I will be reading another Jennifer L. Armentrout book, "Don't Look Back" as my "D" book! STILL waiting on my "A" book to become available from the library! I have 2 on hold and am next in line on both! Geesh, hurry up people! I wanted to stay in order. Smh Kassi, we will need some more alphabet bookshelves! Lol

I guess we do! I will try to get on that today. That is my D book as well! I am really excited for it. :)

Sherry Lister | 45 comments Cool!!! I'm so excited we are reading the same book! (As if we don't read A LOT of the same ones already!)

Sherry Lister | 45 comments I finished "Cursed" by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It was a fun read, however I started feeling like it was dragging on at times. I did find it somewhat predictable. I'll be trying another of her books as I found that this one was somewhat low in the ratings.

Hopefully Don't Look Back will be better!

I could read Catch-22 over and over. We had to read it in high school as one of the English Lit modules, comparing and contrasting with another c - Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

My C book is going to be Carpet Diem: Or...How to Save the World by Accident

Sherry Lister | 45 comments I have completed my "C" book as previously recorded but I have added to my "C" list of books to read this year. They are: "Crash" by Lisa McMann, "The Cuckoo's Calling" by Robert Galbraith as well as "Career of Evil" by the same author; "Catacomb" by Madeleine Roux (after I finish the other books in the series first), "The Conspiracy of Us" by Maggie Hall and "Cress" by Marissa Meyer. I HAVE TO FINISH THE LUNAR CHRONICLES! Lots of books to read!!!!!

Always so much to read and so little time. I even speed up my audiobooks to 1.5x because I get too impatient and always feel like they should read faster, lol

Kay | 31 comments Started Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler on the recommendation of a friend. I might have to get more ideas from her as this one is very good so far! Also have The Confessions of Max Tivoli, a Benjamin Button type story.

A very sad book, Kevin, but important, I think.

I just finished "IT". Interesting book that would be good for any educator to read to remember how some kids are treated when they are not in our classroom. I do have to admit I was a bit skeptical and looked into the story and saw there were some discrepancies in his story. Overall a good book.

Heidi | 10 comments So, I am still stuck on my B book. I love it and hear myself saying "me too" but I just haven't gotten the will to plug through it. I hate when that happens. A book starts out as the perfect book for you to read at the time (or so it appears to be) and then you plow through it or give up and then later on it keeps calling to your brain to read it again? Yeah. That's where I'm at on my B book. So I'm halfway on that and started my C book.

I read "Cracked Up To Be" by Courtney Summers. This started out like my B book. I read it once and put it down. I couldn't quite get through it. I made it through this time, and it wasn't a bad book, even if it was a bit slow at times. The ending was worth the wait, but I would have liked a little more thoughtfulness and analysis at the end.

Don't feel bad. I just finished my C book, and I started it in early January. Read about 10 things since I started it. Like you said, I didn't dislike it, and I always wanted to finish it. It was just hard to bring myself to do it.
