Yeah on both sides of my family diabetes have been an issue. Type 1. I haven't gained any weigh but like 80% of my family has it. And everyone always seems to get it in their 20s. I have been seeing some symptoms from myself recently in the past month. And it's starting to raise a red flag with me. So I'm going to the doctor to see what's up.

Inky Okay I have the Kindle app on my phone and tablet. I'm going to be using it more frequently for my library books because Overdrive is glitching like major on my tablet (where I do most of my reading). One thing that drives me nuts though is it seems some books has page numbers (life City of Bones) and some have locations or percentages (like The Raven Boys). I want to go by pages numbers. Is there a way to change that? Or is it something dealing with the publisher? Help!

message 254: by [deleted user] (new)

There's a kindle app?

It's just an issue with the publisher, I have a kindle and deal with the same issue, so I usually just pay attention to my percentage on the book. I don't know why it is that way.

Hey guys. Sorry I've been absent but things have been pretty hectic and I've had a lot of personal/family stuff going on. I will probably not be to active for a while. I try to pop in here and there but I just haven't had the attention span or energy to dive into the discussions. I just wanted to say hello and that I miss everyone. Hope you're all doing well.

I just came back from the doctor's today. I put it off the day I said I was gonna go. But I was having a horrible time breathing. Turns out I have bronchitis. Now I regret putting it off. I didn't want to be put off of work so they have me on like 4 different types on medication. and I have today off. So I get to work on my reading slump! Hurray for that at least.

Awesome. I'll have to talk to my husband about getting one. He's kind of cranky this week. They are short handed at work.

message 267: by Inky (new)

Inky Uh oh. No cranky husbands!

message 268: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (booktasticnerd87) | 4512 comments Mod
They are short two in security and one in maintaince for the building he works in. They haven't heard from one of the guys in security for a little over a month and then the other one was admitted to the hospital over two weeks ago and no one has heard from him since and then the maintenance guy is on vacation. Its just a bad week for him right now.

message 269: by [deleted user] (new)

Aw. No wonder he's cranky.

Inky Some days I wish I could get new eyeballs. I've been having so many problems with them lately. I have pretty bad distance vision so I have glasses but I've been needing to do a lot of computer work for the past year since I'm doing uni online. Lately my eyes have my killing me. I have to take off my glasses when I'm on my computer or reading because it's too close for them but it still hard to see. I've literally have a headache everyday for the past 3 months. I don't know if maybe my prescription for my distance got worse or could it just be eye strain from using the computer too much, or do I now need reading glasses? I don't know... I hate going to doctors though... Pouts.

message 272: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (booktasticnerd87) | 4512 comments Mod
I hate going to them as well but it sounds like you might need to go because the prescription isn't working anymore.

message 273: by [deleted user] (new)

Eye problems do suck. :( sorry you have to go through all that, Barbara.

message 274: by Inky (new)

Inky I think I might look at some reading glasses to try and either rule it out or maybe see if that's the issue. My eye doctor is a sweetheart but I just don't like people messing with my eyes. I can't wear contacts because it freaks me out having something close to my eyes like that.

message 275: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (booktasticnerd87) | 4512 comments Mod
I had to have glasses once and they asked if I wanted contacts instead and I said no because I didn't like the idea of poking at my eyes in the mornings or every evening.

message 276: by Inky (new)

Inky So I ended up getting a pair of cheaters to try for a little while. I tried them in the store and instantly the pressure went away. I'm giving them a week or so to see how my headaches do. I'm also going to making an appointment for my eye doctor but sometimes it could be a little bit before you can get in so maybe these can hold me off until then. We shall see.

I hope they work for you.Sometimes my husband has to tell me to stop reading sometimes because he will notice me squinting my eyes because they hurt or my head hurts and I am stubborn and keep reading, especially if I am a few pages from the 32nd of a book.

message 279: by [deleted user] (new)

My bronchitis is killing me. I am having a depressing time with it.

message 280: by Inky (new)

Inky Lol. Oh the joys of autocorrect. It's not a major surprise because my Mama has needed readers for as long as I can remember and my so did my Grandpa (Mama's dad). My Dad needs glasses to see distance. I just seem to have gotten the best of both worlds. Not. Lol.

Barbara you did not win the gene pool lottery in this case. I have to say in the gene pool lottery I hate my height. I would be great with another two or three inches. I swear Noah, my youngest, has a Napoleon Complex.

message 284: by [deleted user] (new)

That sounds so good. I decided to stay working because I can't stand being home. Big mistake. I had to call in today.

message 285: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (booktasticnerd87) | 4512 comments Mod
See Leela. You should have stayed home to rest. You get better faster don't yah know. lol

My littlest, Noah, feels your pain on being sick. He is draining really bad and he has gotten sick once a day the last three days. No fever, cough, body aches or chills. So we aren't taki,g him to the ER because they won't do anything if he has no fever which sucks.

message 288: by [deleted user] (new)

Now that I'm not heavy medicated, I am pumping myself up and getting the heck out of my reading slump. What really is getting me going right now is that fact that suddenly I am like a book behind in my reading goal!!!! I was way passed it! That just goes to show you that I am totally slumped! I still have one book from February that I have to read and I have started like 2 books that I had picked out for March that I have started but have not completed. So I will be reading like a mad woman for the next few days.

On another note, I am getting healthy again. Besides being a little boogery, I'm a little better. :) Which makes me loads happier. Sorry I have not really been around and I have just been kinda zoning. I just really wasn't feeling well. And this whole month has been kind of depressing for me.

Also, believe it or not, I have another job. I got hired about three days ago. It's way different than being a CNA. I just got hired as a 99 cents only store cashier. I wanted to have an easier job now that my husband has a better paying job. Plus, my sister in law who is a supervisor there wants me to try for a manager position after a month of being a cashier. She thinks maybe the store manager might be impressed with me. So it makes me feel just a bit hopeful.

message 289: by Inky (new)

Inky Yay on all accounts Leela!! I wish you luck in your new job. I'm having trouble with mine slightly since it's a lot of advertising and I'm trying to figure out the line between what's enough and when does it get to be too much and shoving it down their face. We're doing a 90 Day Challenge with the products that new customers will pretty good discounts (like the wraps are normally $99 and they're being sold for $59) I'm setting up a blog post about it. It's just a new experience.

message 290: by [deleted user] (new)

Being a cashier is a breeze. I enjoyed working retail when I was working. I know that sounds crazy.

Barbara once I get my blog back up and running I will post a link to your blog from mine. I will help you advertise.

message 292: by [deleted user] (new)

Yesterday was my first official day. I was super shy. I kept forgetting to great my customers and promote my item of the week. Today is my second day but I will be alone. Lol. So let's see if I can work up the nerve to at least say hi. Lol.

Joan Walker | 10 comments I work in retail (Boathouse) and love it, but it takes time to get into the routine of greeting customers. Just have fun with it.

Inky Has anyone every used Kindle Unlimited for their books? I'm thinking about trying it but I own a Nook tablet. I'm just thinking it could possibly replace my library books? Maybe? I need feedback if possible.

message 295: by [deleted user] (new)

My sister in law is my new boss, Joan. And she thinks I picked up the basics quick enough to be alone. I just need to not be shy. Which I conquered yesterday.

message 296: by Inky (new)

Inky Okay this is a slight rant so I apologize in advance. I hate when plans get messed up. Tonight there's a meeting with some people who are apart of my company. The woman who got me involved with the company and I were going to go but she completely forgot and doesn't have a babysitter. There's no way I can go myself because I don't have my license. (Yes, I'm 25 years old and I'm scared to get my license. Don't judge...) I'm not mad at her. Seriously life happens I completely understand, especially when kids are involved. I just like knowing what's going on and I was hoping to get more information on everything (I'm still a little overwhelmed with it all). I'm not even sure why I'm typing this. I think its just someone to talk to since you are lovely people.

That sucks Barbara! Is there anyone else that you can go with? or can you get a ride or a cab or uber or something? it sounds like you want to go. maybe you should even if you don't know anyone. Then you can learn stuff about the company and meet other people who are doing the same thing as you. :/
(My sister is 24 and has a license but doesn't drive so don't feel bad!)
