I potato-ed for a portion of my day. I was reading a book (with a migraine so I shouldn't have been reading) and I fell asleep. It worked out in the end because my migraine went away.

message 103: by Inky (new)

Inky This is may be a silly question but does anyone writing down the vocab and the definitions when they come across words they don't know in the books they're reading?

message 104: by [deleted user] (new)

I have a whole notebook of them.

message 105: by Inky (new)

Inky I think I'm going to start a notebook. Handwriting them in a notebook and then typing them into my bullet journal. Maybe the physical writing and then the typing will help me remember them. Lol.

message 106: by [deleted user] (new)

I have pretty bad OCD. When I come across a work I do not know, I write down the work and it's meaning and how it's somewhat pronounced and then I write that work another 15 times.

Yes, very true. I kind of potato-ed this weekend. I wasn't feeling to hot with the migraines I got.

message 108: by [deleted user] (new)

Are you feeling a little better, Andrea?

Leela wrote: "Are you feeling a little better, Andrea?"

Oh yeah, I know what the problem is and I need to get it fix. It sounds weird but my hair is really thick and I have to have it thinned and cut every so often and I just have not had the chance to do that yet and so that is why I've been getting migraines recently. I hope I can get it cut soonish.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I understand that perfectly. -.- I have to do that to my own hair. That's why I keep it short.

Leela wrote: "Oh I understand that perfectly. -.- I have to do that to my own hair. That's why I keep it short."

I like my hair short but sometimes I just don't have that feel for short. I think the shortest I usually cut it is just under my shoulders. My stylist cuts it, layers it, then thins it.

message 112: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I usually have pixie cuts. Recently I started the half long half short cut. But I'm done with that. So I'll be letting the short side grow a bit and then do an Aline and dye my hair platinum blond. Lol.

I like to be able to pull my hair into a ponytail. That's like my main thing. I have to keep my ponytail.

message 114: by Inky (new)

Inky I'm excited about the books for this month! Sorry for the randomness but I had to say it. Lol.

What's amusing is I was going to ask you if you wanted to buddy read Fangirl sometime soon. Lol.

message 117: by Megan (new)

Megan (ReadingRover) | 1232 comments Mod
Sure. I just got it from the library. What exactly do we do for a buddy read? Lol I've never done one before!

You can set a time to read it so you are both reading it at the same time. You can create a board like the ones I did for Kaleigh and I but since we are on the phone usually talking about the book we don't usually use our boards but I put them there so others can weigh in what they think. ETC...

Neither have I. Lol. Have you read Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger ?

message 120: by Megan (new)

Megan (ReadingRover) | 1232 comments Mod
No I haven't read it but it looks good. We should definitely do a buddy read for Fangirl. Let me know when you want to start. We can make a board and if you want to exchange numbers we can do that too and text or just private message. I'm excited about this!

Omg and Leela I'm so happy you got me the Infinite Sea for Secret Santa! I don't read as many paper books as audiobooks but now I'm listening to it and reading it as soon as I get out of the car and I'm racing through it. I don't know if I love it as much as the 5th Wave but it's good so far and getting better. I'm already on chapter 42 and should be done in a few days.

Also I've been shooting through so many picture books and loving them that I decided to extend my challenge goal to 150. I may even go higher. I'm starting to become addicted to the picture books!!!

Ugh, I decided to look at Amazon to see if I could get The Great Gatsby for free and of all the classics they have for free you have to pay for it. #booknerdproblems lol

If you want the audio they probably have it on librivox. I'm surprised you can't get it free for the kindle.

Why don't you get it from the library and then if you love it you can buy it?

Megan wrote: "Why don't you get it from the library and then if you love it you can buy it?"

I already checked my library which is why I went to the kindle thought. Our library is not very big so it doesn't have a lot of the classics. This is apparently one of them. Asked the lady at the desk and she said they sold the last copy at the sale three months ago from the computer records. I was pretty much like ugh. I will have to look up librivox. I've never heard of it before.

I'm definitely down for the board and exchanging numbers. Give me a little bit of time because I either need to get the book from my library or I need to buy it.

And I think The Great Gatsby used to be free but I went back on sale around the time the movie came out. Someone saw an opportunity to make a profit and they took it.

Andrea can you put books on hold at your library or get them online. At my library I put them on hold and they get them from other libraries and then I pick them up when they get there. Also they have a website. It's called overdrive and you can get audiobooks and ebooks on it for free.

I'm so upset right now, girl. So I'm going to vent. Today is my 6th year anniversary with my husband. Things were going great. He made me breakfast. I got cute presents. We went out for light shopping and lunch. And we decided to pick up my friend and my sister in law and we were going to hang out of town. Well my husband's mom calls and says she wants to go too. We tell her know cause we were planning to hit the bar. She gave us the guilt trip and halfway to our destination, my husband makes an excuse that we have to go back. I know things have been hard after the funeral but this was supposed to be our day to relax and I just feel like now I'm stuck baby sitting his mom. I know that sounds so selfish. But I haven't had time to unstress in like forever. I just wanna go home now and let him leave to his moms.

O hunny. I understand. It's hard because of everything. He should have talked to you about it before making that choice.

message 132: by Megan (new)

Megan (ReadingRover) | 1232 comments Mod
That's horrible Leela! Honestly I don't think it sounds selfish at all. You have been devoting a lot of time to your husbands family and rightfully so. This was your special day. You shouldn't have to share it with his mother. I understand that she is lonely but there have to be boundaries. He should have told her that you guys would have been happy to take her out and spend time with her tomorrow or another day this week. You work so much so I'm assuming that its your day off too. I know she is hurting and of course you have to be sensitive to that but she also needs to respect boundaries and your husband needs to set them. Its not often that you have a day a together. I'm sorry. Maybe there is a way that he can explain that it was supposed to be your day and that she can send time with you guys tomorrow or later in the week and you can salvage the night.

message 133: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, ladies. It's just rough. I have been working a lot. And all my spare time goes to comforting him and his family. There are other siblings but no one wants to go spend time with her cause she's been smothering all of them.

message 134: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (booktasticnerd87) | 4512 comments Mod
They should take turns spending time with her. This may sound bad but he should get with his siblings and they should make a schedule.

message 135: by Megan (new)

Megan (ReadingRover) | 1232 comments Mod
I agree with Andrea. A schedule would be good or at least a plan for someone to do something with her once a week. I hope you can get back your night with your husband you deserve it.

message 136: by [deleted user] (new)

You're all so sweet. I told him what you suggested. He called his older brother and his older brother said he would get her to spend the night at his house so she's not alone and we can get a break.

Inky Slight grumble. I had just dozed off for bed. My sleep pattern has been messed up because I've had migraines lately that have hurt my head too much to lay down and sleep. For the first time in about a week I have no headache and I was tired at a normal time. I had fallen asleep while reading my book on my phone so it was right near my head. 12:30 in the morning some random number calls me, scaring my half to death because my ringtone was at a higher volume. They don't even leave a voicemail telling me who the are (I don't answer numbers I don't know). And now I'm wide awake. So much for fixing my sleep schedule... Sorry for the grumble.

message 141: by Megan (new)

Megan (ReadingRover) | 1232 comments Mod
I know the feeling. I have fibromyalgia and I have a horrible sleep schedule. I don't get a lot of restorative sleep and I don't fall asleep until late and I wake up late. I get my best sleep in the mornings which is inconvenient for me when it involves interacting with the rest of the world. At least most of my dog walking starts around noon and goes until later in the day so usually I can sleep in.
On the bright side- at least you don't have a migraine anymore! Those are murder. I get them too.

Thank you. I kind of potato-ed a portion of my day away and did nothing but read. So I never even really looked much at my goodreads. I did respond to a few messages here and there but kept pretty much to myself and off the internet. I finally had time to get on here today. Thank you so so much for the Happy Birthdays. It was a pretty good day.

I have 210 series. I cannot believe I own that many series. I have not even finished them all. I should get to reading on finishing series.

I started to make a list in a notebook of how many book series I have and how many books go with it. Almost like the list I'm doing on this group. But on paper, since I'm not always online. I haven't finished listing them all down. Lol. I'm pretty sure I have 5 different lists like this. Lol.

Inky I hope it's okay to do this. I asked a question in the Blog discussion board. I need some serious help. I didn't want to post it here too and confuse people/get in trouble for misposting (not that I actually think I would get in trouble). Help please! Lol. Thank you!!
