Who is your favorite character? Why?

I know this is probably a common answer, but Alaska is my favorite character. I just love how charming, daring and smooth she is. I usually tend to gravitate towards those kinds of female characters.

Alaska definitely just the way she spoke she was so inspiring. I thought she was easy to relate to and I was so upset when she died that I actually cried.

Dr. Hyde (World Religions Professor). I appreciate that he was painted as frail, dismissible and least likely to be relevant to the contemporary students. A classic example of the "old guard". Instead he was clearly a brilliant, thoughtful man. He was finely attuned to the emotions, and needs of the students both before and after the tragedy. His alteration of curriculum provided a valuable tool for each student to confront, understand and process their grief, fear and anger.

Lara Buterskaya would be a distant second. I appreciate characters that defy expectation.
