1. How did you experience the book? Were you engaged immediately, or did it take you a while to
"get into it"? How did you feel reading it—amused,
sad, disturbed, confused, bored...?
2. Is the plot engaging—does the story interest you? Is this a plot-driven book: a fast-paced page-turner? Or does the story unfold slowly with a focus on character development? Were you surprised by the plot's complications? Or did you find it predictable, even formulaic?
3. What passages strike you as insightful, even profound? Perhaps a bit of dialogue that's funny or poignant or that encapsulates a character? Maybe there's a particular comment that states the book's thematic concerns?
4. If you could ask the author a question, what would you ask? Have you read other books by the same author? If so how does this book compare. If not, does this book inspire you to read others?

David Neff | 4 comments I finished the first quarter of this book and am going to do my best to keep an open mind until the end but am a little disappointed so far.

The plot is rather boring and seems like Hankins was grasping at straws. The descriptions are overdone, cliches are a plenty and the humor is forced so am not a huge fan of the writing yet either. Hopefully, as the story develops maybe the writing will become more genuine.

David - I read this at the end of last year and really enjoyed it but the "voice" in the first section is probably not the strongest so worth persevering!

I'm hoping people finish this soon so we can discuss the ending - don't want to say anything spoiler-ey but....!!!!

David Neff | 4 comments Oops. I picked up the wrong book. I had two books in my Kindle with Bones in the title. Sorry for the confusion. All that said don't pick up James Hankins unless you are a Dan Brown fan!

Not a Dan Brown fan, so thank you for the heads up David.

Daisy | 1 comments Currently on page 159, and really enjoying this. I was pretty much sucked in straightaway.

Lippes | 5 comments Just finished on the Bone Clocks and god how I loved this book!
What a great way to tell the story - and what a story it is.
As in all his books the narrator constantly changes and it is great to get a glimse of the story from so many different angles. Plus it was great fun to detect some of the figures from his earlier books also in this one.
The story itself had a little similarity to Harry Potter. would be fun to discuss the similarities and differencies between those two.
