Thanks! I had 49 done by the end of the year...but that last one ( The Player of Games ) eluded me....and I hated the book too...so, it took a while to get through.

You must mean the Book Discussions folder? They are rolled over from year to year, and they aren't used much. Sometimes synchronicity will lead to a bunch of readers reading the same book, and then there can be some energy there, but otherwise ... nah.
Folders that get heavy use here: the weekly "check in" discussion posts, the individual prompt posts, and the monthly group read posts.

Agreed! That's why it's a challenge! At least for me.

I went hunting and that post was in the “2019 General” folder. I think it was really helpful so I created one for the 2020 Challenge. Post there too - you might get better visibility.

this might be beyond my expertise to help. Try entering just the NAME of the shelf (making sure you've got it "spelled" correctly) instead of the link. That's what I do, and it works.

I'm sorry to see that several members are having trouble with this feature! I just tried it myself and it worked: I entered the exact shelf name (my bookshelf happens to be called "2020" but you can name it anything), I said I wanted to read 52 books for this challenge, and then I added a "Read" book to that shelf as an experiment (a book I had finished yesterday, so it was already on my "Read" shelf), and my "challenge" updated to show I'd read 1 book. Personally I find these challenge bars to be stressful ("Great job! You're one book ahead of schedule!" makes me stressed - there's a SCHEDULE now??) so I deleted it again for myself. But, it's working.
Does everyone know how to add bookshelves in Goodreads?
I recommend that those who are having trouble reach out via email to Goodreads support. They've always been very friendly and responsive when I reach out for help.
And let us know what you find out!!!

except, it was published in the early 1900s, and I can't exactly find it on here. Does it still count?

Of course. You can also add it if you have a profile and want to, but sometimes they get deleted.

I have had this problem. I look under my picture and look for comments I have made. It may take a little research. Good luck.

You can see all of the folders when you go to the group homepage.
All of the general 2020 challenge posts are in the "2020 Challenge - General" folder, which is here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
you can bookmark your individual comment within a thread, this is from our FAQ post:
3. How to bookmark your reading list post to find it easily in the future
-Using a browser, in the “post your YYYY reading lists” thread, click on the date/time link on the right side of your post’s header. Bookmark that page for easy access the rest of the year.
you can also go into a thread and search for your name (this works super well for me because "Nadine" is not common - I realize ymmv depending on how common one's name is), just keep paging through til you find it. There are always 50 comments per page, so you can guess at the page your comment is on and then start searching. This is how I found your post - you are still message #485 (but the number is not 100% reliable, because if someone deletes their message, it changes the numbering):
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
The list of all the prompts are laid out in the first post of the thread, here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
(I'm sure they are in other places, too, but that's where I go - I copy/paste into another document when I want to play around with them)
All of these things are much more difficult to do if you're using the app, because GR has not improved the app in years so it lacks a lot of features.

There's a thread full of spreadsheets people have created and shared that you can use if you want: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Just remember, you need to go under "file" and "make a copy" to save it to your own Google Drive. If you just start writing on the copy that opens with the link you'll be making changes to that person's original document.

I have registered 8 books for this challenge so far and for some strange reason, when I get into the group it tells me I've read just 4, even though clicking "view books" I get to see the 8. Would there be a problem later when I've completed the challenge?
Cheers!

Sometimes it's just slow to update. If you click to view then go back and refresh the group page it usually corrects itself.

Do you have all 8 books marked as Read with a date read in 2020? The challenge only counts them if they’re marked like that, not just based on the number of books in the designated shelf.
Anne wrote: "... Would there be a problem later when I've completed the challenge?"
No problems. No one will check you work when you're done, this is a 100% self-lead challenge.

thank you so much

YES!

1. How do I edit it to mark what I’ve read?
2. How do you make the book title a link?
Thanks. This is my 1st Popsugar Challenge. I’ve read 10 books already 👊🏼

Unfortunately, you can only do these things in browser mode, not on the app. When you are on a computer or using browser mode, your comments will have "reply | edit | delete | flag*" in the lower right corner. Just click on "edit" and make your edits.
(No I do not understand why GR gives us the option to flag our own comments!!!)
Same with linking book titles. When you are on a computer or in browser mode, while typing or editing a comment, you will see above the text box in green: "add book/author" - click on that, search for your title, click "add" and the link is created.

I can see you've called your shelf 2020-popsugar, if you go to "the track your progress" section on the main group page, type in 2020-popsugar as your shelf, and the number of books you want to read and click save. If you've already set this once, click "update my entry" to check it's correct.
eg.
I want to read [50] books for this challenge.
Enter a shelf name for this challenge: [2020-popsugar]
