Our Culture series read is due to end soon, so it's time to start thinking about the next one!

Please use this thread to nominate a sci-fi series we have not yet read....

message 2: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Have we done the Expanse series? Or Scalzi's Old Man series?

message 3: by Mickey (new)

Mickey | 623 comments I second the expanse series. However I read the first three novels and the rest of the series is in my TBR.

Alexa (AlexaNC) | 302 comments How about the Sirantha Jax series? Starts with Grimspace

message 5: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 659 comments Jack Campbell's Lost Fleet starting with Dauntless

message 6: by Laz (new)

Laz the Sailor (laz7) How about CJ Cherryh's Chanur Space Opera starting with The Pride of Chanur? First contact in reverse, plus lots of aliens and stuff.

Though the Jax series is good too.

message 7: by Scott (new)

Scott How about Mary Gentle's Ash: A Secret History (broken down into four books for the U.S. market, if that counts)? Yes, it's SF not fantasy.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 5 comments I know we already have a suggested C. J. Cherryh, but I love this series.
The Faded Sun Trilogy

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 260 comments I also would like to nominate a C. J. Cherryh series - The Company Wars. The group has read the first one - Downbelow Station - so we'd start with #2 - Rimrunners. There are a total of seven books in the series but since we've read #1, we'd have six to go!

Whoops, #2 is Merchanter's Luck not Rimrunners, which is #3. Sorry!

and I nominate Ancillary Justice and the Imperial Radch trilogy!

OK-drafting a poll now

message 11: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It's an older series but what about the Berserker series by Fred Saberhagen?

message 12: by Laz (new)

Laz the Sailor (laz7) I would note that CJ's Company Wars is not a continuing series with the same characters. It is several separate stories set in different sections of the same universe. I loved those stories, but they are largely stand-alone except for some grand-arc threads.

I agree, they are stand alone books set in the same universe. Only Finity's End should be read after Downbelow Station, as a direct sequel. And these two books are the best ones by far, even though I liked most of the others, too.

I think Merchanter's Luck is also best read after Downbelow Station.
