Micheala | 1458 comments Hello,

Over the past few months, we've gotten quite a lot of questions from people not knowing how to link their review into the appropriate RIRI thread. This thread contains step-by-step instructions with images on how to do so. (if they look too small, I apologize. The coding won't work properly to allow me to make it bigger without being distorted.)

Note: the novel I am using is one I just finished. It is not part of the program. It is merely an example.

These instructions are for desktop versions of goodreads. Information regarding phones/tablets will be at the end.

Step 1: Rating and Reviewing

When finished your novel, you need to rate and review it. There are two ways but I am going to show you the way I use, which I find simpler.
On the main page (https://www.goodreads.com/), on the top right hand corner there is a "Currently Reading" section. On the book you are done with (if you have more than one), click on Update Status.

A small box where you can write a comment about the book or update what page you're on will come up. On that box, click "I'm Finished."

A pop up will come up on the screen asking if you would like to mark the book as read. Click "Yes". Then a pop up will take over the screen which is where the review is written.

Choose the amount of stars you would like to give to the book. Under that, choose the appropriate shelves you would like to place the book on (if desired) and then in the dialogue box, type your review.
When done it should look something like this:

Click "Save"

Step 2: Pasting Your Review

Now to paste the review to the thread. First, find the RIRI thread. Go to the New Adult Book Club's main page (https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...). Scroll down until you find the "Read It Review It" folder and click on it.

It will bring you to the list of all them. If the RIRI thread is recent than it should be on the first page and just scrolling through them would be fine. If not, to the right of the page is a search bar. Type in the author's name or the book's name and all topics in the group regarding the book will show up.

Next you'll need to find the review that you just wrote. There are few ways to find it, but I will show the easiest way to do it in my opinion . Go to your profile. Scroll down and under your Recent Updates, it will be right there. Click on "See Review"

And there you have it. Now, this is your review to the book! On the top of your browser, your search bar, highlight the URL.

Right click on it. Click "Copy"

Go to the tab with the corresponding RIRI thread. Note: for the example, I am using a random RIRI thread since the book I used for this example is not from the RIRI program.

Scroll to the bottom of the thread until you see the dialogue box.

Right click on the box and click "Paste". It's nice to write a small note about the book but not necessary. Once done, click "Post"

And then it should look something like this:

That's all there is to it. Now your review is posted.

Phones and Tablets

Contrary to belief you can post your links using a phone or tablet if that is where you usually do all your reviewing but you can not do it on the Goodreads app. Reason being: links to your reviews are URLs, which is the address to every webpage on the internet. While the app requires internet, it is not ran on a browser therefore there are no URLs. That being said, there is no way to actually use the app to paste your link.

If on your phone or tablet, simply use Chrome, Safari, or whatever other browser your phone/tablet uses to access Goodreads. This will most likely bring you to the mobile version. You can change it to the desktop version, but the mobile site still works for URLs since it is browser-ran.

If you are more comfortable writing reviews on the app, go ahead, but you will need to log on to the desktop version on a computer, phone or tablet to copy and paste the link into the thread on the browser.

We ask that you always post the links to your reviews to the thread so we and the author sees that you did indeed hold your end of the bargain up. If it's not posted to the thread we don't actually know if you did it or not. If your link is not there by a few days after the RIRIs due date then I personally compile a list of anyone owing that week to message them about outstanding reviews. Often I double check the member's bookshelves to make sure that they didn't do it before I bother them, but this extra task takes a lot of time up. Time that we ask you to save us by simply posting the link.

We know many of you have trouble with this so I hope this step by step guide has helped.

Again I apologize for the images but hopefully they still give you an idea.

Thank you and happy reviewing!
