Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments I am looking ahead to the 2016 challenge and wondering how long you would like me to keep the 2015 discussions open before archiving them. Give it a week? Longer?

Also, I've sent everyone a link to a poll about using Group Bookshelves as a way to organize our recommendations. Please respond or leave feedback here.

Other suggestions for our 2016 challenge? Is there something you would like us to add? Something that didn't work that we can eliminate this year?

Give it up here, my friends.

Lynn (lynnali) I would think definitely keep them active until at least January 3 or 4 for the people who went away or were busy busy for New Year's.

Tara Bates | 1008 comments Can you keep some open? Like the list one and the finishing up one? That way people who are continuing the challenge until they finish can update when they complete.

Sally (phoenix623) | 23 comments I agree with Lynn. I think it should be open through maybe that first week of January. After that, I think that everything should turn over to 2016.

what happens when you archive? what happens if you don't archive?

Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments When I close the threads, you can read but not post.

I was also considering just adding folders to differentiate between the years.

Daneil Newcomb | 33 comments I like the idea of leaving the list posting open so folks who want to finish but haven't yet can still go back and make edits. I think everything else can be closed. Folders would be super useful, regardless.

Janelle (janelle99) | 18 comments I also think you should leave the "post your reading lists" and "I'm finished" lists for 2015, for those playing catch-up. I think the weekly discussions and topic discussions can be archived after a few days though. I also like the idea of folders for each year.

CherD (cheryde) Please keep the 2015 list open. I have finished (did not get all of the categories read, ) but I do want to post all the books I did finish, and agree with Janelle as above.

I agree, you can archive all the 2015 topic discussions this week - if anyone REALLY has to say something about one of those topics, they can start a new discussion, right?

Is there a way to minimize the 2015 sections AND KEEP IT MINIMIZED? Every time I go back to the page, my browser expands it again, and I have to scrooooooooll down to the 2016 section ...

message 11: by Juanita (new)

Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments I think if I create a 2015 parent folder, I could collapse everything into it. I will try that today.

Melody | 208 comments When will we get new shelves for he bookshelf? How does archiving the 2015 books work for that?

message 13: by CherD (new)

CherD (cheryde) Could you let us know how we can still post our lists of read books for 2015 as I hope to get to it today. I have been so busy and I need an hour of quiet time to get it done :)

The "Post your 2015 reading list" thread is still open and I don't plan to lock it. It has been collapsed into a 2015 folder which is at the bottom of the group page now. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I was trying to get the new bookshelves loaded last night but I was having some difficulty. I was able to get help from the Moderator Support Group so I'll get that done this weekend (maybe even tonight).

I went through and removed all of the "currently reading" designations from the 2015 bookshelves so that they don't show on the group page any more.

I am hesitant to "delete" the 2015 shelves because there are 1300 books there so everyone has worked really hard to get them updated. My initial plan is to name our 2016 shelves "2016-name-of-prompt". I would like to feature a shelf each month as it coincides with our group read (i.e. January would be 600-page-book).

Melody: Please share your thoughts with me on how you use the shelves. You can PM me or post here whichever is easier.

Thanks for the great questions.

I was able to move the 2015 folder to the bottom of the page. Hope this helps. Great suggestion!
