Dhfan4life | 1051 comments I'm up to Ch. 17 now and it's going better. I just don't think that the author knew how to word things too much at first. It's evened out now. Save for I hope the past story isn't leading the present one by the hand so to speak.

Good luck with your next pick. :)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Finished The Lost Sisterhood by Anne Fortier and other than the historical side of the story. I was not feeling how incredibly TSTL the main character was in the present day story. She took so many unbelievable risks that could have gotten a normal person killed it wasn't even funny. It was actually rather ridiculous to be honest. And the romance was positively unnecessary. Didn't really accomplish much of anything considering how much of the book that neither of them could really trust each other. Just boooo.

LOL og. well i suppose on the bright side she didnt die haha. oh wow o_o even the romance was a bummer. hopefully ur next book (for this challenge or not) is good and makes up for it. that book had such a pretty cover too

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Nothing wrong with getting swept in a good book to say the least. So glad you enjoying It Happened One Autumn.

I might have achieved my first back flip if she did, lol. The romance came out of left field really, I mean I shouldn't be surprised as for a while it felt like the author was finally having the historical story lead the present story. And certain evens felt like they were happening in the two different time periods. But still not really something that was needed. I agree on the green cover, but yea I got this one- The Lost Sisterhood by Anne Fortier and I found out why I wasn't feeling it too. Not cause it's a bad cover, but it totally reads to me now as exactly what the story was about. Racing all over the world for answers to stuff.

Which normally might sound pretty cool if you like the characters and what not. But I didn't at least for the main character and most especially her attitude towards her one and only friend in regards to getting the chick fired! And yea, I think as I had told you before. I'm not a big fan of authors that write "hand-holdy" types of stories. Meaning that instead of letting things unfold naturally, the author is taking you by the hand and saying this goes with this because they found that, and let me point out to you that they are going to need this because that over there is just so important too. And it's like you aren't discovering anything organically at all.

And I hope my next one is good too. It's supposed to be a light one- Declaring Spinsterhood by Jamie Lynn Braziel

thanks ^.^.

LOL @ back flip.man that sucks on certain events feeling like they were happening in two diff time periods. lmao yeah that would normally sound cool. O_O im guessing she had a really bad attitude towards her only friend? yup i remember lmao. with any luck that one will be better XD. it does sounder a bit lighter but hopefully not too dramatic haha. hope u enjoy it sis!

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Welkie.

Oh I didn't mind the two different time periods, I just wish I could have bought Diana a brain. Well the friend had called her to come out to another country where the friend was on an archeological dig and wanted to show her an artifact that had the same symbols/language that they found in Diana's grandmother's special Amazonian dictionary. But the friend was like come out and check out the artifact, find out what you need to about it. But do it before my boss gets back and don't leave the keys to the room down in the site or any of that.

Well Diana goes down there, ends up seeing what she needs to see and ends up getting mobbed down there in the dark. Totally forget about the keys and everything else down there, and the friend's boss comes back and finds the shoe and the keys Diana left behind and got her friend fired. But instead of commiserating with her about it. She was griping about how the friend's mentor wanted to take them somewhere else on his boat. And yet even on the boat, the friend was like make the best of the trip, while I'm still trying to figure out what next I'm going to do without a job. At least you have your teaching gig back in England.

We shall see. I'm still surprised that it has so much space at the top on the cover. I thought it was just background. But still.

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Finished Declaring Spinsterhood by Jamie Lynn Braziel the other day and that was a true 1 star for me. Was not light at all for a chick lit story. That was totally not what I was expecting at all.

And it's good thing you picked Bitter Bite for spring sis. That might be when I finally get it.

message 109: by Angie (new)

Angie | 189 comments Bitter Bite was pretty awesome! And of course just made me want the novella and novel coming up in the summer and fall all the more!! Estep is amazing at setting up for the next book, making you want it before you've even finished the one you're on!!

message 110: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments I bet, she is really getting into her stride there to say the least. :) However I bet you as soon as she get things going really well that we are hooked all the more and that is when the series will end.

message 111: by Angie (new)

Angie | 189 comments Shh!! It shall never end!! At least that's my dream. *shrug*

Angie | 189 comments My mother said the dreaded four letter S word that ends with me shivering and my dog wanting to go play outside!! I threatened to throw an old decretive doll at her, since it is white and all that. She did not find my joke amusing.

message 114: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Yea, no throwing at annoying moms even if they do get under our skin.

The evil white frozen stuff that falls from the sky. That word is not allowed to be said in my presence. With in a million miles of me if possible, but apparently that's not possible.

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Woohoo, I've finally made it back to this particular challenge!!! And my last book to read- The Heartbeat Thief by A.J. Krafton long awaited it is!

message 124: by Angie (new)

Angie | 189 comments I still have one more to fulfill the amount I said I'd do, but then I'm sure I could finish off the other four if I tried even a little bit. I probably have finished, but haven't paid attention enough to fill in the challenge here.

message 125: by Angie (new)

Angie | 189 comments Alright, Allegiance of Honor (Psy-Changeling #15) by Nalini Singh isn't showing up on the "read" list yet, mostly because I don't want it to be done so I stopped right at the end of the chapter instead of finishing off any stuff after that making it 100% read and doing a rating a review. But it really is done making me technically done with the challenge since I said I'd only be doing 8 books. But since ¾ of the books I read are mysteries, that one is no issue, I'm not sure about the fairy tale one even though I read a twisted fairy tale by Galenorn, I just really didn't like it and made me wonder if I'd like any of her other writing. The one about a book I wanted to read in 2015 is difficult for me, because I usually just read what I want when I find it, though you never know what's hiding on my kindle. And I think the last one is a green colored cover, which shouldn't be too hard.

message 126: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Finished up your challenge sis after reading Heartbeat Thief that I totally recommend to anybody up for something a little different.
