Angie | 189 comments I figure this challenge goes on through the whole year, so I can put that one off for a while in case I do come across something else I want to read in its place.

Speaking of the challenge though, when I go to the front page of the group, it says I've only completed 2 of the eight I'd originally said I could do. I've read four of them, and I made sure they were all marked for the challenge and read. Any ideas what's going on with that?

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Did you go to your actual shelf attached to the challenge in here? Cause I noticed with my last challenge when I attached it to the shelf, I had to sometimes go in and manually make sure it updated.

Also did you make sure that you marked the finish date on the books too? I know that always tripped me up sometimes too.

message 53: by Angie (last edited Jan 16, 2016 08:20PM) (new)

Angie | 189 comments The date may not have flipped, since I'd read a different version than what showed on here so I had to change some stuff. But I know the shelf is attached because I created a new shelf from the spot where it asks which shelf you wanted to use. I'll fix the dates (or check them at least) and give it until tomorrow since I'm about to fall asleep already. Nova will be so excited to go to bed already!!

message 54: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Yea, and Amaya could probably help ya more too.

message 55: by Angie (new)

Angie | 189 comments Nope, fixing the date fixed. Thanks!! I'd never have thought to check for that.

message 56: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments No probs bob. :) And I wish they would just make the date finished automatic than when you started the darn thing. I swear I have been told over the last few years how "few" books I've read cause I don't manually put in the finish date. But I say that is horse malarckey!

Angie | 189 comments Kindle has a new thing where it's linked up to goodreads, but if you don't hit 99 or 100%, it doesn't change it to read, so then you have ten books hanging in your currently reading shelf when really you only have one that you're reading. But it does make writing a review easy on books you bought from amazon, you just write one review and it goes to both amazon and goodreads as soon as your wifi is turned on.

By the way, the ground is all yucky and white again, but i don't think it's enough to measure. I do hate when the ground turns white! Nova would be loving it if I let her run for an hour or two in it, even though she would be shivering even with her coat on, because she likes to eat the nasty white stuff or even chunks of ice! She's crazy!!

message 58: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Ooooh, yea I did see that add your books from Amazon. But that is good there is ease of doing reviews. But yea, that little 99% or 100% can make all the difference.

Yep, we are getting the white stuff too and can believe that about Nova. Grace face is the same way. Although she was enjoying interrupting my exercising this morning. That was much more fun than the snow.

message 59: by Angie (new)

Angie | 189 comments We don't ever use the nasty four letter S word. We say that little tiny leaves are falling from the sky. That S word is THE worst word in the English language!!

I can't even imagine if I added all my books to goodreads as TBR. Seriously thousands of books. Many I've forgotten about, I don't remember why I bought them, if they were free. I know how to go into Amazon and find the top 100 free books in any category. So now I have a gazillion books that I'll never be able to read. Or will never want to read now that my tastes have changed, since I've been doing this for a few years now. Plus there's probably quite a few I have read but I'll never be able to remember which ones. Ugh. So I won't ever be using that particular feature. I need to go through my TBR list as it is and clear out a bunch of stuff that I saw on here and thought it looked interesting but now have no interest in.

I just thought of the weirdest question that I'm throwing out to any dog owners. Does your dog sleep with his or her legs up by their belly or extended straight out from the back of their body? My dog seems to try to stretch her body as long as she can get it, which kind of sucks since she's half daschund. She takes up about half the length of the bed, I swear. And she starts dreaming that she's running, and her legs start twitching. I'm not exactly sure what her face is doing when she does it, but her face starts twitching and she woofs a little. She's a little crazy. She's still doing better than my mom's dog, she has restless leg syndrome and as soon as she stretches out for a nap, she starts kicking whoever is close enough to hit.

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments I keep forgetting cause I like the white stuff. :P

I hear ya on that. Heck I still have books in different area codes it feels like that I haven't had time to add on here. I do a few at a time when I find and read them. But in one lump some, no can do. I hear ya on tastes changing at times. Although I've dropped a few, whole series, cause I just never had the time to get back to them and like progressively trying out and reading other stuff. I know you love the series. But I like sampling stuff here and there and makes it easier to do when you aren't tied to this or that series to finish.

Yep, Gracie sleeps all kinds of ways. From stretched out as long as she can, to actually wanting to lay right on the edge of the couch. Used to freak momz out all the time cause she thought she was going to fall off the side. We've had the discussion about my ribs being another place. When she is in the recliner she knows how to scoot her butt around in the corner of the arm and seat and proper her feet up the back of it to be propped up. Oh yes, wild thing does it all. Even jumping on my back during yoga too.

message 61: by Angie (new)

Angie | 189 comments I figure with series, I don't have to look for something else to read for that much longer.

Dumb dumb dog here doesn't quite get how jumping works. She can jump as high if not higher than the doorknobs, but she can't figure out how to jump on my lap 90% of the time. One out of maybe every ten tries she makes it on to my lap, depending on where I'm sitting. The computer chair at my parents house usually works the best for her. Also she can't jump on the bed, which is a good foot lower than the doorknobs, but she has to jump on this stool first, then onto the bed. Hasn't figured out how to jump on the kitchen chairs, if she even wants to that is. She does fine on the couch and recliner, but we stay out of that room, less space for her to use as a puppy litter box that way. The cat had made a few stains on that carpet with some hairballs and my mom won't every leave it alone. Who puts in off white carpets when the directions to your house used to be "a mile past where the pavement ends..." So even if it weren't for my cat or dog making a mess, there would still be stains from muddy, dirty feet!!

message 62: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Mhmm. And I'm never out of something to read, just not enough hours in a day or week to get in everything either.

Now, I see why they have those little doggie step ladders. Nova is just your special baby. But it's all good. Dirty floors not so much. Haven't used any special signs to tell em to take their shoes off? Do have to agree with you on the off white deal. Or any light color for floors. Can't make enough Oxiclean at times for the stains.

Angie | 189 comments Have you guys looked at Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer and the rest of the books in that series? At how many pages they are? One was 800 pages, the rest were in the 400-550 range i think, except for Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #3.5) by Marissa Meyer , which is a prequel type thing and it was still 272 pages at $10. Seriously?? SERIOUSLY??

That reminds me, on a completely different subject, did one of Shondra Rhimes shows get cancelled or is over for the season? I ask because i was reading People magazine earlier and they said there's a new Shondra show starting soon on Thursdays at 10/9 central. And seeing as I'm just finding out my favorite country singer (Miranda Lambert) split from her husband because apparently he was getting cozy with his female Voice co-coach, or whatever the singers are, and the divorce was finalized last July, I'm obviously NOT up to date on the gossip. It's tempting to keep the People subscription, but seeing as the second issue in my free 30 day trial has little that i want to read, I don't see that it's worth it.

message 64: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Actually no I hadn't looked into the page count of the Cinder books. I only have the first one down I believe and it's really leery if I'll even be into that one. But definitely not surprised on the pricing either. Book prices have been tripping for a rather long time now in my opinion.

I know they say Scandal should be wrapping up eventually. But not sure when. Although I know it and the other two shows should be coming back in Feb. And yea she was coming up with a third show. Something I think a bit lighter.
Ugh, I definitely don't want to hear about magazine subscriptions. I finally got my money back from some that I was goaded into getting. And yea, I could have told ya about Lambert and Blake. Just I plum forgot. But I figured it would end anyway. Not cause of Gwen mind you as she was going through her own divorce and her own husband getting more than a few EXTRA services from their babysitter himself. But because I think just like with Pitt, Aniston, and Jolie, Blake wants some kids and Miranda didn't. Gwen has some kids and I just think older and in a more settled into her fame place like Blake. Miranda is still a young rising and shooting star. So I think they would have split after some time anyway.

Well they did say it was an amicable divorce. But I had heard Blake mentioning kids a few times here and there when I saw him on a talk show or two in the past. And yea they are still friends. But I still think Gwen is a better fit for him as he has been more established for a while as has Gwen. And seems like to me it's Miranda's time right now. She is raking in the awards, hit music, and so forth. Not to say Gwen and Blake aren't. But it's more like "yea that's nice they made another one". But for Miranda it's like woohoo yea go girl kind of energy.

haha i preferred him and miranda together but either way w/e works as long as theyre happy XD

message 70: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments They were cute enough. But I don't think when one person wants kids and the other doesn't is going to really last. And when it does, I just see it in a two minds sort of way. Like look love is conquering differences. And yet, the other side is like, dude the person that doesn't want kids is going to keep being with the other person knowing how they feel and not let them go off to find another kind of happiness? For sure to each their own.

forgot to say that i started Borg (B Cubed, #3) by Jenna McCormick :I

message 73: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments And forgot to mentioned I finished Flunked (Fairy Tale Reform School, #1) by Jen Calonita and it kind of flunked for me too. I was expecting a YA story. But got something on par with kids first starting chapter books. Still love the cover but wasn't really feeling the characters too much.

on a mission removing some books from my tbr list atm! lolll

message 75: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Mhmm and on the side creating my own funky smoothie concoctions lately too. Made a chocolate banana nut smoothie last week. Which was banana, peanut butter, some almonds and cashews, chocolate and vanilla swirl pudding, some milk, and cinnamon.

Latest one I just did is peaches, mangoes, raspberries, almonds, cashews, plain Kefir, honey, some pineapple sherbert(borrowed from popz), vanilla extract, nutmeg, and some cinnamon. Which I totally had to add in the sherbert and extra spices, cause I swear it was smelling like marinara sauce at first lol. And so the extras there at least toned that down a bit to make it more smoothie and less need for some shrimps on the side lol. But I still think I'm missing something but not sure what.

That's very disappointing that it was written for such a younger audience. I'm glad I didn't drink the Flunked Kool Aid with you! I would have cried!

As for your smoothies, the biggest problem is that you use yucky fruit in them. You should skip the peaches and bananas. They are yuck. I'm not sure about mangoes, though, I've never tried them, but the smell of them usually makes me nauseous.

Ah well, it met the requirement and get thee behind me as the saying goes.

And I know you not a fan of the nanas but that was a damn fine chocolate, banana, nut smoothie ever! :P And yea the mango is definitely an acquired taste. But I think that I just cut the one mango too soon wasn't ripe just yet. And at least it didn't taste like a funky arm pit from being overly ripe, haha.

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments On Confessions of a Demon and up to Ch. 9 so far. Oh man it's hitting me all day long about why I put this thing down. This author is big on the info dumps and the MC is big on talking tough and so forth, but in all honesty being the cause of what is "ailing" folks so to speak.

But just remembering "Read 5 a day" and that the author is only saying so much about this or that because she wants folks to get what the story is about and the main character's history. But still....... >o< is all I can say.

finished The Viscount's Christmas Temptation (The Dukes of War, #1) by Erica Ridley and i really liked it but the way it ended was so quick. its like everything that would bring it to a close was put on less than one page e.e

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Okay so I've had The Lost Sisterhood by Anne Fortier for a min and I just can't seem to get it going. I've read and re-read the prologue a few times. But I think the cover of the edition I have is just sucking the initial excitement out of it that I had. I was hoping for the green and mystical cover as seen above.

But the one I have is looking like this- The Lost Sisterhood by Anne Fortier not a bad cover. But I don't know, I'm just not feeling it for some reason. Hence I've caught up on almost everything Demonica/Lords of Deliverance by now, lol.

So I guess I will dust it off and give her another go tomorrow.

dude that sucks. a book to perhaps bypass then? hope it went better for u the second time around :/. if u need to switch out books u can always do that.

finished Borg (B Cubed, #3) by Jenna McCormick . the last book to the series! LOL not often u can say that these days XD. it was 3 stars imo. it could of been better but it did go with the flow of the other books. LOL the last book made me feel like i was reading sci-fi/paranormal and dystopian in one tho. decent series tho as long as u can get into the books XD

message 100: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life | 1051 comments Oh I've started it, up to chapter 9 now. And it's not really the cover that was putting me off. Just the writing style is not choppy, but I don't know, might have a better flow if I was more familiar with the natural flow of British writing or something. Cause it's not like there is a difference in the language but I don't know. Something in the sentence structure and how you get so much backstory out of left field at times, to explain why one thing is so important. But I don't know, hard to describe it.

Ha, ain't that something lol. Glad you enjoyed the series too. Sounds like a trilogy that had all kinds of elements. Hopefully a good change up and original to what else is out there lately too.
