Most of the detail is in the topic title - I remember this book very clearly, but somehow can't remember a lot of specific details! So here's what I do know:
It's a YA book that starts with a group of teenagers driving in a car, and the car goes over a cliff. Everybody survives, and then of course they have to figure out how to get home.
It's a first-person narrative, switching back and forth between the main character (Karen) and at least one of the others. Karen was not driving - she was in the back seat at the time of the accident.
I would have read it in the mid-1980s, and the setting was contemporary to the time.

Thanks in advance for your help!
