Hi Phil!

Janice (jamasc) Hi Melanie aka Helena. I'm another Canuck hailing from Alberta. I also have a large dog, a Malamute, named Zeus.

Hi Janice, another Canuck, great :) Malamutes are great, a neighbour of mine had two...great dogs!

Jammies HelenaMelanie, I love all of your profile pics, but the one of Pax and (I assume) your daughter sleeping in the car is ADORABLE. *adores*

Thank You, yes that’s my daughter and I suspect that Pax fell asleep trying to mooch the bag of cheesies on her lap ;-)

message 1506: by Jammies (new)

Jammies I wouldn't doubt that for a minute, mals being food thieves extraordinaire. Don't get me started on that, I have a ton of stories about my mal/shep mix!

Hanna (ohanners) | 202 comments Hi Melanie! Nice to meet another Canadian...I live in Mississauga. I pass through Niagara often because my brother goes to school in Buffalo.

I didn't mind large dogs until I saw all those teeth in your profile pic! I hope he/she was just smiling?

Hi Hanna! The dog was playing, no worries- he was trying to 'catch' snow... I'm in Buffalo often (yesterday, in fact) my husband is from there.

message 1509: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments My wife's family are just outside of Jamestown, NY, so I've been to Buffalo many times over the last fifteen years. That Knox (I think that's what it's called) Museum is pretty good.

message 1510: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments Yes, it’s The Albright Knox Museum- I haven’t been for a few years, but was actually planning a visit there soon, it’s not bad at all. I’m going to take my daughter there and to the Buffalo Museum where they have a Chronicles of Narnia exhibit until May. My husband still works in Buffalo, and all his family lives there, so we’re there every couple of weeks or so.

message 1511: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I visited the Albright-Knox last year--really nice museum. The collection is especially strong in modern and contemporary art.

Frida Kahlo, Self-portrait with Monkey, 1938

message 1512: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments That is a nice museum. My mother likes to go stare at the Clifford Stills paintings for hours at a time.

::tweezes brows::

message 1514: by [deleted user] (new)

It is funny the different things you look at. I was mesmerised by the length of her neck.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Does the monkey have his arm around her?

message 1516: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24818 comments Mod
He appears to.

message 1517: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Looks like it. I hadn't noticed that before.

message 1518: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i'm convinced it's a girl monkey, and that that's her tail.

message 1519: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I guess that's possible too. We'll have to ask Larry.

message 1520: by [deleted user] (new)

Lobstergirl wrote: "::tweezes brows::"

I thought the same thing. My eyes went straight to the brows and I went, "UGH!". I had to pull back to look at the rest of the painting...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I didn't see the movie, but iirc Salma Hayek played the role and even rocked the eyebrows.

message 1522: by Félix (last edited Feb 09, 2011 02:59PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's a girl monkey and that's her tail. No, it's her arm. After reading The Lacuna a deperately want to know Frida.

message 1523: by Hanna (new)

Hanna (ohanners) | 202 comments Okay, random question here. How many TC-ers actually know each other in person, either before joining TC or after)? Just curious.

And seriously? Forget the eyebrows, what about the stache?

message 1524: by Hanna (new)

Hanna (ohanners) | 202 comments And look, it's absolutely adorable how the monkey is imitating the woman's expression.

Disclaimer: I obviously don't know much about Frida Kahlo.

message 1525: by [deleted user] (new)

Pssst Hanna, none of the TC's are real. We are a figment of your imagination.

message 1526: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Some of us have met in real life, Hanna.

message 1527: by [deleted user] (new)

You can't trust Monkeys.

message 1528: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Frida's monkey?

message 1529: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i have not met anyone live. i think it is a conspiracy. they can come visit any sunday from 2-4 after passing security and the metal detector. sorry, i'm not allowed conjugal visits though

message 1530: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Kevin's in the big house?

message 1531: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments doesn't seem so big from solitary

message 1532: by Hanna (new)

Hanna (ohanners) | 202 comments Okay, that explains it all Gail. I should stop taking those pills from strangers.

Larry-I think she's talking about all types of monkeys in general, including those made of fabric.

message 1533: by [deleted user] (new)

:D

message 1534: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments I don't think I've met anyone from TC IRL.

message 1535: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Me either yet, but I will!

message 1536: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) We need to have a convention.

message 1537: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i get out in 13 years (if i behave). if we have it after then i'm in

message 1538: by [deleted user] (new)

If Larry is to make it, we might need to meet at your centre a few years earlier Kevin.

message 1539: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) What does that mean?

message 1540: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Sounds like Gail knows something you don't, Larry.

janine | 7709 comments Larry wrote: "What does that mean?"

the apocalypse is in 2012.

message 1544: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yes.

message 1545: by Félix (new)
