Can't find a particular book...

Hello everybody!!! I'm a new member in this group and so far I enjoy being here!!!

As far as the topic is concerned, about a month or two ago I saw a book here, on goodreads, that sounded interesting but I did not add it to my TBR pile. Silly me, now I cannot keep it out of my head...

As far as I remember, the book was about a father that is a mad scientist and makes various experiments. He creates an altered man (I think half-human and half-lion), puts him in a cell and observes his attitude. At the same time, the scientist's daughter falls in love with the man and considers eloping with him.

That is the plot of the book mentioned on the book description. I think it is a part of a series and it has some kind of yellowish cover...

Any help would be highly highly appreciated!
