Tris was named after her dad's first love, and her mom's best friend, Tris Prior. When Tobias and Christina had a little girl, they honored Tris Prior by naming their daughter after her.

History:
Tris was born on a cold, December day to proud parents, Tobias and Christina Eaton. As a young child, she was taught to always tell the truth and to always help people in need. Because of her diverse parents, she was taught of two different versions of ways to look at things. She could always put others first, or she could be brutally honest. One thing her parents had in common, were that they'd both lost someone that they loved dearly, and thus, this left an imprint on Tris.

In her adolescence, Tris grew up always playing games and always on an adventure. She craved the need for diversity and suspense. When Tris was 7, she and her mom and dad went to the place that her parents had met. Her parents called the strange place, Dauntless. Tris loved the way that there were no railings anywhere, and the danger of it all. She lost her mother that day, she fell down a chasm. Tobias was heartbroken, he had already lost someone special to him, and now he went through the same pain. Tris had always been closer to her father, so her mother's death wasn't that heartbreaking, but she still grieved. Being raised by a single father was hard, but she and he survived it.
