Group Reads 2016
Fredrica wrote: "What about Powder and Patch for July?"The Talisman Ring was my idea so I'd really like to let the rest of the group choose. :)
What does everyone else think?
I'm fine with the Talisman Ring for July. I just joined and thought from your list you did that in March. Anyway, looks like you haven't done Powder and Patch in the last few years, so I thought I would suggest it.

I'm happy to have Powder& Patch as a nomination. HJ found the original ending on a blog,so it would be good to discuss P&P soon in case it is taken down.
Fredrica wrote: "What about Powder and Patch for July?"That was going to be my suggestion as well :D
Powder and Patch would be a new read for me too, and I'm good with that if that's our choice by acclamation. :)
I'll leave this for a couple more days then P&P it is!We have a few new people so I'll just explain. We have gone back to consensus in this group (so no polls) I own all of GH's historical romances & straight historicals, so I'm happy to lead any of the discussions except for My Lord John. I'd prefer not to lead on Charity Girl as I reread in 2014. So if anyone nominates either of those two, could they lead the discussion. :)

Morning all - I've just realised I'm going to be away this coming weekend, so the Cousin Kate threads will go up slightly early. :)

& just a reminder that our June read will be a sentimental favourite of mine, The Black Moth& good news - this title is available to read free online at -
http://digital.library.upenn.edu/wome...
Also free for download on Project Gutenberg & it is usually cheaper than GH's other titles on Kobo & Amazon.
Given that Gh's mysteries are harder for some of us to get hold of, I thought I would call for nominations for August now.Our group has already read Footsteps in the Dark & Death in the Stocks (2014) & A Blunt Instrument. (this year)
I don't own
The Unfinished Clue
Behold Here's Poison
No Wind of Blame
or Detection Unlimited
I do own Why Shoot a Butler? but really didn't like it, so if that one or any of the above are chosen, could the person nominating lead? :)
I'll start the nominations with Duplicate Death.

Edit & I want to discuss the format for the Powder & Patch read, but I thought I would call for the August nominations first. :)
I love No Wind of BlameIt is at times farcical, and so far it is the only Heyer Mystery that I regularly reread.
I enjoyed all of her mysteries (except Detection Unlimited, haven't gotten to it yet), some more than others, but it's been a while since I've read many of them and I have them all, so I'm in for any of them!
We should read They Found Him Dead before Duplicate Death because of characters that appear in both.

That's high praise! I wasn't impressed with the last GH mystery we read (A Blunt Instrument? anyway, I found it very forgettable), but I'll have to read No Wind of Blame, even if it doesn't get picked for our group read. Luckily my local library invested in an extensive set of GH books a few years ago, and I just checked and this one is among them. :)
So Critterbee will you lead the discussion on No Wind of Blame if it's successful? It sounds really good but I don't own this title. & since I'm away part of August, it might work better if someone else takes the helm for this one. :)
Margaret wrote: "We should read They Found Him Dead before Duplicate Death because of characters that appear in both."Agreed - same characters, plus for selfish reasons I read it years ago and would like to reread it!
Susan in NC wrote: "Agreed - same characters, plus for selfish reasons I read it years ago and wo..."
It's not being selfish sticking up for what you want to read! :)
I'll go for No Wind of Blame. I've never read it and my brother gave me a first edition of it and two others for my birthday at Christmas.

Thank you, kind lady! ;)

Duplicate DeathThey Found Him Dead
No Wind of Blame
Behold Here's Poison
The Unfinished Clue
The Unfinished Clue is the Gh mystery I most want to read, but I don't have that one.
I see the No Wind of Blame as the leading contender, but we need a discussion leader.
My GH loving friend is in Iran at the moment & I'm not sure if I will see her before I go away in August. So I can't get a copy of the books I don't have from her.
Kim wrote: "That's a brother who actually pays attention to what you like."I have three brothers and he's the absolute BEST!!! He's also a great reader like me.

Critterbee wrote: " Carol, if No Wind of Blame is chosen, I will try leading the discussion. Awesome! I will let the discussion go on for another couple of days.
Carol, are you going to set up a poll, or are we just going to chat here and see if a general consensus emerges?
Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ wrote: "Carol, are you going to set up a poll, or are we just going to chat here and see if a general consensus emerges?"We have gone back to a consensus model, since I had so much trouble with broadcast messages.
So now is the time to speak up! :) & I've mentioned the books I don't have copies of in post 71.
Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ wrote: "Okay, my vote is for Critterbee's No Wind of Blame. :)"I have them all (smirk, smirk), so No Wind of Blame works for me (or any other one).

& I think we will call it a wrap.
No Wind of Blame it is for August, with the lovely Critterbee leading the discussion!

This is going to be an interesting discussion! Everyone seems to have strong, differing opinions,..."
In this group it is! I would have thought Devil's Cub would be but no. :)
Anyway, I hope everyone who wants to take part has been able to get a copy (of A Civil Contract)
