Started this yesterday. A bit unexciting of a start for me but I'm starting to get into it.

Let me know how you like it at the end I am still really not allowed any new books and so I cannot get this yet.

Megan (ReadingRover) | 1232 comments Mod
I definitely will.

Valé (eggy18) | 59 comments Oh Megan you forgot to tell me this is J.K Rowling...! I loved her Harry Potter, but seriously the woman can't write for toffee! I only held out to the end in HP because of the plot- solely for the plot

Omg I had no idea!!! I just looked it up and realized after you said it that it was written under a pseudonym! Lol when the heck did that happen? There is a few in the series! Omg. I never read a casual vacancy because I was afraid it would spoil the magic of HP if it wasn't good and I would be put off of Rowling. I had heard mixed reviews. so crazy I had no idea this was written by her!!! I bet everyone else did!

I kind of forgot that she wrote those under a pseudonym. I don't always focus on a name unless I really like the writing.

It's better than The Vampire Diaries that are writing by ghost writers after a certain book because the last few books suck majorly.

Valé (eggy18) | 59 comments Lol I should've left you reading 'The Cuckoo's Calling' if I had known. I honestly can't imagine Rowling writing another book that is not Harry Potter, because her entire reputation is built and based on HP. I certainly haven't heard critics praised for her other work. But is 'Cuckoo's Calling' good? If yes, carry on and let me know if it's worth a go!

Kirsty I read most of this last year but I couldn't finish it. For me personally it was a little too slow and quite a few pages seemed to be filled with information that wasn't necessary.

I got about 100 pages from the end I think and decided to give in but I did google the spoiler to see who had done it and I really wasn't that surprised.

Does anyone know if the others in the series are any better?

I'm a few discs into the audiobook and it's a bit slow but still holding my attention. I'm going to try to get through it. I'm hoping it will get better but now after what you said I'm not so sure. Maybe Rowling should stick to Harry Potter.

Valé (eggy18) | 59 comments I hope you prove me wrong, because she invented Harry Potter, so surely she has some talent for characters and plot?

Megan (ReadingRover) | 1232 comments Mod
Idk so far it's dragging

Ok so I've finished! It was a very slow and tedious book to listen to but the mystery itself was good. Honestly I kept thinking I knew who the killer was but I ended up being wrong.
I just can't get past how slow it was. It was probably a hundred pages too long if I had to guess. Like I said in my review- I didn't have to know about every cigarette that Cormoran and everyone else in the book smoked. I mean like every cigarette.

Evaxoxo I read it 2 years ago and it was really good. Kinda long but overall it was amazing! Highly recommend it to anybody! ☺️☺️☺️
