It has been a busy week for me, so sorry for not getting back to anyone earlier!
First of all I'd like to welcome everyone who joined this week and I added Jeremy, Milou, Kate and Felix to Team DC and Elwen, John and Karen to Team Marvel. Now both teams consist of 14 members.
It also has been a busy reading week for you and Team Marvel decided this week for them again.
The Marvelites went with a recruitment approach this week, where Christina got the achievement for being the first player to add Agent Coulson to her roster, while Shawnie got it for being the first to recruit Blade. In addition to that Kate added Nova to her roster.
Team DC went for a full beatdown of Penguin and Melanie, Dawn and Veronica gave our villain what he deserves. And Melanie took the achievement for being the first player to recruit Swamp Thing.
On the Energy Cell front, Team DC added 3 cells and Team Marvel 1 cell towards their first portal hero.

No, you were counted. I can't mention every single book read so mentions in the round-up message are always about completed recruitments or defeated villains. :)

Kate wrote: "Can books of poetry be used? Most aren't 100 pages, but you read them much more slowly than a novel, so it's about the same amount of time (at least for me)."
I like to keep rules very simple and transparent and that's why I like to stick to the rule of 100 pages. A person reading a 1000 pages Steven Erikson book will read it slower than someone reading a 350 page Jim Butcher, but somewhere there needs to be a border and that is 100 pages. I'm totally fine with poetry, but the whole book/collection should reach the 100 pages mark.

Abe Lincoln style it should be.

Ana wrote: "Question. Does the BotM have to be strictly read on that month for it to count as an energy cell or can we use the BotMs of January to add an energy cell in June?"
As the others already explained correctly, the BotM has to be read entirely within the month were it is our BotM.
My personal philosophy behind that rule is that I'd like to encourage people to join in with our BotM reads, so we have a lot of participants and thus a lively and fun discussion. :)

Edit"
Yes, as long as the book is read in 2016 it counts. I also allow grandfathering. F.e. if someone joins in June that player can make all of their reads of 2016 count for recruitments.
That resembles a bit of the shocking plot twists and shifts of power we often see in comics and goes in flavor with the superhero style of the challenge.
But it still favors regular players as you can't defeat villains retrospectively or earn Energy Cells.

What I'd like to see here are non-humans. Fur, tentacles, fangs, a plethora of limbs you name it.
A fully changed Werewolf would count for that, but a pale person that is supposed to be a vampire wouldn't. If in doubt, just post the cover and I'll judge it. :)

Wish I knew about grandfathering for last year as I joined in December....Mpauli, did you give me credit for recruiting Swamp Thing?
If anyone is looking for a book with an umbrella or top hat on the cover for Penguin, I cannot recommend The Night Circus enough! I'm listening to the audio version narrated by Jim Dale, and I can already tell it's going to be one of my favorite books of the year.
