I keep saying I'm going to do that...read just for pleasure. Challenges are just to tempting for me.

See, I underestimated the amount of reading I needed to plan in order to last through all the football watched while visiting my relatives. Ended up paging through the contents of my kindle to see what caught my fancy. E-ink doesn't offer much in the way of color, so I couldn't skim my frighteningly vast "read next" collection for red covers. Thus the whimsy pick!
LOL I understand now cause I only recently got a kindle, but I still pick out my reads on the computer and just dl them from the cloud. But if you're avoiding footy & all you have is an ereader, that's certainly understandable :D

Finished Daemon's Mark by Caitlin Kittredge so I'm 2/3 or 4 done. Book with a gun on the cover. I haven't read the first ones in this series, and thought this book was "okay", 2 stars. Is it worth reading the ones before?

which is a pretty wild ride and absorbing read so far.
My third challenge book is Monster Hunter International. This series has been on my "to read" list for years! Finally getting to book 1 because of this challenge! This one is my PNR/UF/F book.

It doesn't take itself too seriously either, though at times I roll my eyes at the "government agency keeps secrets and screws everything up" scenarios.
The author has another series that does take itself seriously (The Grimnoir Chronicles) if you're interested in a comparison. The Grimnoir books have won some awards, especially the audiobooks.
I am loving Monster Hunters so far! It really is over the top fun. I enjoy being able to escape into this book. Reminds me a lot of the Bill the Vampire books, which are super fun too.
