The Shadowhunters Chronicles by Cassandra Clare - Restarting November 1st 2018

Okay guys, so to celebrate the release of Lady Midnight on March 8th of 2016, I've decided to host a read along of the books currently out in the Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare. This is to get us all in the mood for it and have a reresher for the first Dark Artifices book.

Each book will be read over the span of a week beginning January 4th until March 7th (nine weeks, nine books). The books can be read in any order but, in my opinion, the best way to do so is as follows (date listed is the date to start):
-January 4th: City of Bones
-January 11th: City of Ashes
-January 18th: City of Glass
-January 25th: Clockwork Angel
-February 1st: City of Fallen Angels
-February 8th: Clockwork Prince
-February 15th: City of Lost Souls
-February 22nd: Clockwork Princess
-February 29th: City of Heavenly Fire

I'm really excited about this and hope you guys join me for another go at our beloved Shadowhunters. Or, if you're new to the Shadow World, welcome. Post what you are in the Shadow World, post updates on the books and where you are. Happy reading.

This is a great idea, Kailyn! I won't be reading it quite in this order though. I"ll read TMI first then TID, but I'll read one a week too (if I can).

Okay guys, I know I'm a day behind but it's time to get this party started. I think this read-along will be great since the show is premiering in a week. I don't know about you guys, but when I reread a book I notice things I never picked up on before. Do you?

I am currently in the middle of Chapter 5. The spoiler does mention the Infernal Devices trilogy. For those who haven't read it yet. (view spoiler)[ Hard to believe Clary and Tessa, from the Infernal Devices trilogy, are almost the same age. Tessa seems pretty mature for her age, while Clary from at least point is really whiny and has a snappy attitude about everything.
Jace isn't Will Herondale, but I may grow to like him. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11: (view spoiler)[I'm pretty sure everything must be a shock to Clary. Not only is she adjusting to losing her mum but she is also adjusting to a new world and trying to regain her memories. Also, I'm curious to see if the story Jace told her was something that actually happened to him or if he somehow made it up. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17: (view spoiler)[That whole rescue mission at the hotel was quite reckless and dangerous. I get she wanted to save Simon, but they should have called backup. Still, it was extremely brave. That last scene with Simon and Jace was extremely awkward. Also, the fight between Clary and Simon was sad to see because they both hurt each other. (hide spoiler)]

I have been planning to do this for months! I just wish I would have noticed this group weeks ago! Lol. I hope the newcomers to the Shadow World loves these books the way I do! I'm a bit behind but I am determined to catch up!

Started yesterday and so far I am really enjoying it. This book gives a lot of background information that may have been useful to know before I read the Mortal Instruments. I like the characters and I like discovering all about the Shadowhunter world.

I finished Clockwork Angel today

(view spoiler)[ This was such a fast paced book and such a quick read. I loved all the characters. Will was my favourite, he had some really funny lines and was very sarcastic. I love the Shadowhunter world and I enjoyed learning more. I think I read this at the right point as this gives a lot of background information that is really helps to understand some of the events that occur in the Mortal Instruments (hide spoiler)]

I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

Love this series! How do all of you feel about the Shadowhunters show on Freeform? I wasn't a fan of the 1st episode, but I loved the 2nd one!

I started and so far I am really enjoying it. I'm really enjoying the interactions between Jace and Simon. The best Jace line so far 'This from the guy who has all the sex appeal of a penguin'.
