SOLVED. middle grade fiction about a avid book reading boy [s]

I read this book in about 2011/2010, it was middle grade fiction aimed towards 6th graders/7th graders perhaps. The book was pretty big looking. I'm not sure if the boy in the book was named Pablo or if the author was. I'm pretty sure the author had written other middle grade fiction books. Parts I remember is it was about a boy who loved to read but I think he wasn't allowed to and he went on a summer vacation where his dad didn't want him to read and he wanted him to spend time out in the ocean. The boy finds a small little bookstore where he spends his time reading. One day he finds an abandon cottage. He then decided to fix and clean it up and spends his time reading there.
