Kim (heyitskim) I am so excited to start read for the new year.
Hopefully I am able to complete my goal and possibly pass my goal.

Kim (heyitskim) If any of you have recommendations for me to read for the new year, please comment down below and I will be happy to potentially read everyone's book recommendations.

Cassandra | 5832 comments What kind of books do you like, or is there a particular genre you would like recommendations for?

I am into Dystopian and Contemporary books, but I am open to any books from any genre. I guess in 2016, I want to be able to read books from different genres.

Cassandra | 5832 comments I don't read a lot of contemporary, so I'll let others help out there.

I recommend Ready Player One and The Night Circus to almost everyone. Ready Player One is dystopia, and The Night Circus is fantasy.

I also really enjoyed Red Rising and its sequel Golden Son, which I would classify as dystopia as well.

Hope that helps a bit! Don't feel like you need to read all of these, I just wanted to throw some stuff out there.

Kimberly (httpswwwgoodreadscomdredzone71) | 40 comments Hey there! I'm trying to follow all my fellow Kims and Kimberlys to support them in their reading challenges! Good luck with your goal! :)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments It's great that you want to experience some other genres. My fav reads from last year were The Nightingale bY Kristin Hannah (historical fiction), Beauty Queens by Libba Bray (YA), If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins (romance), Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult (fantasy), and All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven (YA). Hope this helps!

Jackie B. - Death by Tsundoku (reiwing2040) | 1343 comments I second Cassandra's recommendations of The Night Circus and Ready Player One. I loved them.

I also really enjoyed the YA series The Lunar Chronicles, which starts with Cinder. It's a sci-fi/dystopian retelling of fairy tales. In the series you meet Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White.

If you are interested in reading some graphic novels I recommend Saga, Volume 1. Only the first 5 volumes are out in trade paperback, but they are worth it. If you've never read graphic novels this might spoil you forever-- it's addicting and beautifully drawn.

I have always wanted to read Ready Player One and The Night Circus. Although I heard mixed reviews on the Night Circus, I am still interested in reading it.

I have heard great reviews with Red Rising,so I am looking forward to reading it. :)

I have never heard of any of these books, but All the Bright Places. Is that bad?!?!? Thank you for your suggestion and I may get the chance to read the books you suggested. :)

I dnf'd Cinder because I was so busy with school, but for sure I will be going into the Lunar Chronicles. I want to read those books so bad!!!

I have always wanted to read the Saga graphic novels.
Thank you for your suggestions! :)

Not bad at all - that's why we share our reviews:)

That's a shame-- but it's great that you DNF'd more to distraction than dislike. Whenever you get back to it, do you plan on starting from the beginning again or picking up where you left off?

Yeah!
Probably from the beginning because I have no clue where I left off.

Kim (heyitskim) I changed to 30 books due to my busy schedule at school. Also, at the moment I am in a reading slump. :( I am trying my best to get out of it.

Sometimes when I'm in a reading slump I reread favorite books. I remember one year I read the whole Harry Potter series, finished the last book and started the first one immediately. (And read the whole series through again.)

message 25: by Tania (new)

Tania | 1120 comments Bella's suggestion always works for me as well - if I want to want to read but can't quite get in the mood, or if I'm overwhelmed by choices and can't pick out what should come next, sometimes I'll just pick up a book that I love and I'm right back in the swing of things again.

message 26: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments No problem, Kim! :) Being busy with schoolwork can make it difficult to focus on reading, but that's fine. Hopefully you can find some books you really enjoy, though!
