Danielle | 71 comments I just finished Ten. It is a retelling of And Then There Were None. It is shelved as horror, so I am going to count it just in case I do not get to another horror book. I personally wouldn't say it is one, but whatever. The book was ok, but I would only recommend it if you need a horror book to read quickly.

Mindy (mbogoo) | 24 comments I used to be a die-hard Stephen King fan, but haven't been fitting his books into my readings over the past 10 years. So, I've heard great things about his "Doctor Sleep." Since it is the sequel to one of my favorite King books, "The Shining," I think it's a perfect fit. I'm looking forward to reading some King for the first time in quite a while.

Coco Harris (thebookkeepers) | 4 comments Do you think the series of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children would count for this task? I originally thought so but didn't feel like the 1st book was very scary, more suspenseful to me. However I'm currently reading the 2nd book, Hollow City, and rethinking adding it to my horror book category. Any thoughts from others familiar with these books? Would you add them under your horror category?

Megan | 130 comments I went with the classic Frankenstein for this task -- hard to believe it was first published nearly 200 years ago! I also recorded and plan to watch the 1931 movie adaptation and 1935 sequel, "Bride of Frankenstein," now that I've read the original story. While I've already completed the "Read a book that was adapted into a movie, then watch the movie. Debate which is better." task, I think this would've been a good fit for that category too since the movie differs from the novel.

I have seen others count Hollow City as their horror book. I haven't read it so can't say personally, but if you think it counts as a horror, then you should count it! :)

Tracy Caruso (tracyleecaruso) | 3 comments I just started reading The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing and it is creepy. I'm loving it.

Hebah (quietdissident) | 30 comments I read The Family Plot for this challenge. At first I was worried it would be a bit too scary for this chicken, but it was just the right amount of unsettling, easing up as the mystery began to be explained. It makes me want to explore the horror genre a bit more.

Thank you, I read it and it was so good! I had never read any Shirley Jackson other than "The Lottery" many years ago in school.

I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson for this challenge, but then I also read Something Wicked This Way Comes (Green Town, #2) by Ray Bradbury last month because I heard it is a good story to read in October. It was excellent, and I am also counting it for the horror challenge.
