I've enjoyed what I have read so far I am enjoying finally reading authors that have been on my list for forever haha. I'm really looking forward to reading Swan Song but, I am waiting until I go on vacation since it's a thick one so I can get a good chunk of it read while relaxing at the beach :-)

Myst | 408 comments Any word on what the 2017 HA challenge might be?

message 105: by Char (new)

Char | 17472 comments We usually do one based on this list. Do you have any suggestions for something new?

message 106: by Maxine Marsh (new)

Maxine Marsh | 737 comments Oh yes, we should come up with the 2017 challenge soon! We could use this current list again or come up with another list.

message 107: by Myst (new)

Myst | 408 comments Well the past 3 years we've had different lists to pull from each year.

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2... (Weird mix of horror and non horror.)

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3... (The previous 2 lists I think were an option the other year)

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

Or have a challenge to read X number of books on a specific theme. 5 non romantic vampires, 5 ghost stories, 5 anthologies, 5 zombies, 5 non romantic werewolves, 5 graphic novels/comics, 5 gory books etc.

Heather (cheshireeyes) | 33 comments I like the idea of a theme. ^^^

A theme? We could come up with a list of the books we've had on our TBR list the longest but have never gotten around to reading. Just a thought... :)

message 110: by Char (new)

Char | 17472 comments That could be fun!

I didn't realize we've used so many different lists over the years.

message 111: by Char (last edited Dec 05, 2016 12:51PM) (new)

Char | 17472 comments Okay, how about the HA TBR Challenge?

We could challenge ourselves to finally READ { } number of horror books that we ALREADY OWN and already on our TBRs?

What say you?

message 112: by Albert (new)

Albert | 443 comments I like it. Won't have to track down and buy more books. Not sure about other people but I've had books on my TBR list for a few years, will give me a reason to finally read them.

It would be interesting to see what books have been lingering on everyone's TBR. Might even be fun to see what reasons we have for never getting around to reading certain books. I could come up with a million of 'em... or at least a few dozen. lol

message 114: by Kylie (last edited Dec 05, 2016 01:41PM) (new)

Kylie (new-vogue-ravyn) | 113 comments This would definitely help me, I keep swearing I will make some headway through my book piles. Of course, not all of my TBR are horror, but the ones that are can count towards this goal too.

That being said, most of the books I have to read aren't listed on my 'want to read' shelf, I use that more a reminder to myself to look them up for purchase, or they're books I entered giveaways for because they looked interesting and wouldn't mind paying for if I come across them in the wild etc.

I like the idea of 'clean out your tbr' for a challenge. I added a few books from previous year/s as options and didn't get around to them, then they weren't on the next year's challenge, and other books had a higher priority.

GENIUS! That would actually give that added incentive to read books that we bought simply because we "wanted" to read them! (As opposed to those that we *have* to review for NG, etc).

message 118: by Char (new)

Char | 17472 comments That's a great idea you had, Wendy! Want me to set it up tomorrow?

message 119: by WendyB (new)

WendyB | 5054 comments Mod
Thanks, Char! It's something I've had in the back of my mind for a few weeks now and was trying to think of a way to use it.
Please do set it up.

message 120: by Kelly B (new)

Kelly B (kellybey) | 630 comments I'm in:-)! It sounds like a great idea.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments I'm all for this idea too! I have so many horror books languishing in my tbr bins I could create a decades worth of lists for everyone!

message 122: by Marie (new)

Marie | 4031 comments Okay everyone i have a question: Will we be reading books that will be on a list? Or will we be reading books that we all have laying around or in our kindles that we haven't read?

I have been following this discussion and would like to join the challenge as long as I don't have to worry about buying books that are on a "list". I have over 200 books on my kindle that I haven't read so that would be a great incentative for me to read them.

message 123: by WendyB (new)

Marie, the idea is to look over your own personal TBR list and pick those books that you've been meaning to read for a long long time but just never got around to them. Chose the number you think you can get to in 2017. The books chosen will be different for everyone but that should make it fun. We'll all probably be expanding our poor ol' TBR again as we look over what everyone else is reading but that's the price we pay for loving books. :-D

Thanks, Wendy! I was starting to get confused, which doesn't take much for me. lol :)

I think part of the reason this is such a great idea is because you don't have to go hunting or buying books, you can just list books you already own and presumably want to read. :)
