CJ (thebookdream) | 47 comments My Nook HD recently bit the dust. I'm very disappointed (user error not product failure). I was ready to go and buy the Samsung 7" but decided I didn't like the worse resolution on the screen. I could buy the larger Samsung or maybe grab another HD off Ebay. Thoughts? Does anyone who actually owns any of the new Samsung Nook have any thoughts on this?

Karen (2noelle) Personally, I think the Nook HD is a better reading experience. I own a Nook HD+ and a Nook simple touch.

I purchased the Samsung Nook 7 when they first came out and I didn't like it! I ended up giving it to my husband. I think the Nook HD is a better tablet than the Samsung one, because the Samsung Nook 7 only has 8 mg's of memory;Nook HD+ has 32 to me,storage is important because I own tons of books and magazines. The Nook line isn't perfect, but I won't be replacing my Nook HD+ unless something happens to it and they I might go to a Samsung, but I definitely don't favor them.

Turtlefrog | 107 comments I agree. I miss my Nook HD+
I too was having issues with my Nook HD+ and had to have it replaced. Luckily for me I still had a warranty and BN was able to provide me a replacement. What they didn't tell me though, was that the replacement was a certified pre-owned. Needless to say I was still encountering the same issue even on my replacement.

I finally had to just buy the new Samsung (at a discounted price due to the BN issue I was having). I've had my Samsung for about a year now and I like it but I really loved my HD+
I miss my HD+

CJ (thebookdream) | 47 comments Just bought a used HD off Ebay. I really didn't care for anything else other than MAYBE the Nexus 7. Can't wait for it to arrive!

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 360 comments I recently purchased the Samsung Tab for Nook when it was on sale for $99.99 - currently I own the Nook HD which I love but shave been concerned that my Nook HD was going to bite the dust. I have not started using the Samsung which means I can't offer an opinion yet Christa but I do look forward to reading others comments. I will start using my Samsung soon in case I don't like it I will return it.

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) (chaostheory08) | 75 comments I bought the Samsung Tab 4 Nook the day it released. I love it. I have several tablets: iPad 2, SGT4N, Kindle Fire HD... my Samsung Tab is my favorite for reading and watching Hulu.

I usually have dedicated tech for each purpose but I'm happy that I can use my nook for other entertainment purposes. Kindle is rather limited. Since Samsung tab runs on Android, I enjoy it a bit more.

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 360 comments That is encouraging to hear Cate - I hope to also fall in love with my Samsung Tab for Nook and I look forward to using it.

Jency | 5 comments I had my Nook Color for several years before I traded it in for Samsung Galaxy tab4 Nook. I have been using it for a few months now and I like it. I like that we can access Android App Store, Samsung and Nook apps. I sometimes watch Netflix on it too. One of the main reasons I got the Samsung nook was for its external storage. We can use an SD card for up to 32GB which is very useful for a book hoarder like me.

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 360 comments Jency I'm looking forward to that SD card as well!

Britney (tarheels) | 80 comments I got the Samsung tab when it first came out. The only issue I have is sometimes my internet freezes but that could just be our wifi. Other than that I like it. I am running out of space though. I switch between it and my HD+.

Christopher Conn (cmconn) | 135 comments How do movies look on the tab? Are they HD quality? I have the nook HD and they look great, sometimes watch netflix when my kids are watching our big TV.

Sandi (sandikal) | 17 comments I'm a bit late to the conversation. Last December (2014), I managed to get a Samsung Nook as a warranty replacement for my Nook HD. I like the Samsung product, but they got so much wrong with the 7" Samsung Nook. The biggest problem is the 8GB device storage. Between the OS and the Nook app, about 5GB is spoken for, leaving 3GB for other things. That wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact the only B&N content that can be sent to the SD card is video. I was having to uninstall things just so apps could update. There will never be enough memory available for it to upgrade Android to Lollipop. (It's still on it's original KitKat OS.)

For Christmas this year, my husband got me the Galaxy Tab A that isn't a Nook-branded tablet. I'm loving it so much more. The Nook app from the Google Play Store is just as good, if not better than the one that comes with the Nood-branded tablet.

Seriously, look into getting a non-Nook Android tablet. You'll be so much happier.

Storm (stormgerlock) I absolutely love the Nook products and have had one version or another of a nook since they first came out.

But recently I finally splurged and bought an iPad and it's completely changed the way I read... Yet again.

Now with apps like Nook, Kindle and overdrive I have so much more access to all the e-books I want. And I didn't think I was limited before.

With my iPad I now barely reach for my Nook. And I feel guilty constantly.

And I'm sad to say I most likely won't purchase another Nook. Even though models with the E-ink screen are my favorite.

I can do virtually anything with my ipad.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

I've never thought about the memory issues with a branded tablet. I have this problem with my android phone, pretty much hit a wall installing apps because of the limited memory. I might buy a larger android (non-nook) tablet next year and just install the apps.

The nook books will always be my favorites but I may not always buy their hardware.

Wow - well it is too late for me now - I already purchased the Samsung Nook - hopefully it will be okay. Sandi - you can put additional books on the SD card - right??? I was also thinking about putting the Kindle app and books on an SD card as well to save on space - along with my Dropbox - does anyone know if these are possible??

message 16: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Conn (cmconn) | 135 comments I don't think you will ever hit a limit with books but you may hit a limit with apps if you want to load it with apps.

message 17: by Sandi (new)

Sandi (sandikal) | 17 comments Books cannot be loaded to the SD card. I was only able to keep about 5 books at a time loaded to my Nook. I had pared my loaded apps down to just a handful and moved every one I could to the SD card. The Kobo app wpold let me put books on the SD card, but the Nook and Kindle apps wouldn't. If you have magazine subscriptions, children's books, or comics, you're pretty much screwed when it comes to space. All of those items take up a lot more space than a regular epub for an e-ink reader. Plus, the cache doesn't clear out automatically. If you view YouTube videos or visit a lot of websites, you'll have to be diligent about clearing your cache.

For me, it didn't work well as either a tablet or a reader.
