You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day - Restarting May 20th 2016

Gosh i love her Geek and Sundry YouTube Channel

my personal life philosophy is always to assume the worst, then you’re never disappointed.
That is something you would say Felica

I originally know her from the last season of Buffy... but I didn't really come to love her until she played Charlie in Supernatural. Based on this book and her Youtube channel, Charlie is kind of Felicia playing as Felicia, which is fun.
I've also seen her in some of Will Wheaton's TableTop gaming vids--which she's hilarious in.
p. 115: "When we graduate from childhood into adulthood, we're thrown into this confusing, Cthulhu-like miasma of life, filled with social and career problems, all with branching choices and no correct answers. Sometimes gaming feels like going back to that simple kid world. Real-life Felicia wasn't getting more successful, but I could channel my frustration into making Keelerette an A-list celebrity warlock, thank you very much!"
^Man, I can relate to this on soooo many levels.

I get my copy later from my library.

I love that she manages to find the motivation to write her TV series and then see it through. I really like that's it written in a way, however, that doesn't just say "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" but instead focuses on, "this was a real struggle for me but I got through it."
Of course, I am absolutely thrilled that she didn't give into some a-hole TV producers and stuck to her guns until another solution came along. Yay internets! XD

(view spoiler)
I really enjoyed this memoir--I haven't been big on reading autobiographies lately and this reminds why they can be fantastic!

I'm not a gamer myself but she presented the information in a way that was accessible and understandable. Anonymity on the internet can really bring out the worst in people!!

Okay. So, a random confession:
I've never heard Felicia Day's name before I picked up this book. Yeah, never.
(In case you haven't already guessed this, yeah, I'm quite lacking in general knowledge, sometimes. *kicks self*)

And I enjoyed this memoir. A lot. If only Felicia Day wrote all nonfiction...

Same :) I have never heard of her until I saw this book at the library. However, it seemed interesting and I decided to pick it up to read.
The Internet isn’t all cat videos. There’s also Felicia Day—violinist, filmmaker, Internet entrepreneur, compulsive gamer, hoagie specialist, and former lonely homeschooled girl who overcame her isolated childhood to become the ruler of a new world... or at least semi-influential in the world of Internet Geeks and Goodreads book clubs.
After growing up in the south where she was "home-schooled for hippie reasons", Felicia moved to Hollywood to pursue her dream of becoming an actress and was immediately typecast as a crazy cat-lady secretary. But Felicia’s misadventures in Hollywood led her to produce her own web series, own her own production company, and become an Internet star.
Felicia’s short-ish life and her rags-to-riches rise to Internet fame launched her career as one of the most influential creators in new media. Now, Felicia’s strange world is filled with thoughts on creativity, video games, and a dash of mild feminist activism—just like her memoir.
Hilarious and inspirational, You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) is proof that everyone should embrace what makes them different and be brave enough to share it with the world, because anything is possible now—even for a digital misfit.
