Hi. Mrs. Houck!! How did you find out so much about Egypt??? Through research or visiting or friends?? Sorry I'm just naturally curious. Also where in the world did Amon even go?? Is he connected to the heart scarab and maybe it will take him to lily??? I sure hope so.
What will we be expecting to see in Recreated? Will Amon's brothers be in it more compared to Reawakened? Will Lily gain any special abilities like Kelsey did in the Tiger Saga? What do you have in store for us now that Amon's quest is complete?
Are you planning on doing a BIG love triangle? Just like you did in tigers curse? Like Lilly and Amon have a fight and she falls in love with one of the other brothers?
Hey Colleen, are the Tiger's Curse or Reawakened books something that you started in high school/college? If they are, were they for research or something else?
Are you already thinking of a new series, or do you want to finish these two first? Also, why India and Egypt? Don't get me wrong, I love them both, even more so now thanks to you, but what made you decide on those countries instead of someplace like Japan or China, or somewhere else with a bunch of really old relics still lying around and history that you and your imagination can incorporate your wonderful stories into?
Hi Colleen! First, I just wanted to say that I love every single one of your books! I have a few questions, but you don't have to answer all of them! If you could live in either Kelsey's world or Lily's world, which would you pick? Would you ever be open to writing about Greek or Norse mythology? What are your favorite and least favorite parts about getting to write stories based on mythology? Do you think that, if they ever met, Kelsey and Lily could become close friends? Thank you so much for your amazing stories, and I look forward to reading all of your future ones!
So, I've read Rick Riordan's books and they are to die for. (Yours too of course!) And I just gotta ask, are we gonna see any of the minor gods/goddesses? Like Bast or Bes? We so saw Anubis and I just am wondering if we'll see any others. Hapi? Heket? Tawaret?

Yes! You're going to see a slew of them. In fact Reignited, the novella, is a story featuring gods exclusively.

Actually, it wasn't. I just liked the look of it. Also I think it had something tigery on it. At least the one I chose did if I recall properly.

I loved Reawakened and cannot wait for Recreated! My question is would you ever consider writing a book in a different genre? What other genres, other than YA, do you like to read?
I just got ahold of a copy of Recreated via a friend who had an ARC. I am only about 20 pages in-- but how did you come up with the idea for where Amon is at in the beginning of this book? Did it come to you in a dream, did you just come up with it when writing one day?
Hi! So, I hope you are ready for the storm of questions. xDWhat was your inspiration to write the Tiger's Quest series and the Reawakened series? What introduced you into writing or what was your inspiration to start writing? How many books will be the Reawakened series?(if you ever mentioned it I missed that.) Have you ever visited any of the places that you've written about? Which destination would you choose next if you decided to do, yet, another series? Which literary genres are you most likely to find yourself reading most of the time? Which book was your first read? (If you remember) Is it that books your all time favorite or you have others? Also, tea or coffee?
Btw I love you writing.

The thing I love about YA is that I can write almost any genre. I think if I was to venture somewhere else it might be adult fantasy or sci-fi. =)

If you already read Reawakened, you know that Amon leapt somewhere else before he could be judged. At the beginning of Recreated, he is in the Netherworld. This is a bit like purgatory or hell so most of the images and ideas came from things associated with such a place.

What was your inspiration to write the Tiger's Quest series and the Reawakened series?
The tiger series was inspired by Beauty and the Beast. The Reawakened series is a bit like Twilight meets The Mummy.
What introduced you into writing or what was your inspiration to start writing?
I started writing after I read the Twilight books. I looked up Stephenie Meyer and found out she was a woman my age who just got up one day and wrote a book. I decided to give writing a try too after reading her story.
How many books will be the Reawakened series?(if you ever mentioned it I missed that.)
Three and a novella.
Have you ever visited any of the places that you've written about?
Just Oregon and New York. I'd love to go to Egypt or India someday.
Which destination would you choose next if you decided to do, yet, another series?
My preference is to go a bit sci-fi =)
Which literary genres are you most likely to find yourself reading most of the time?
Definitely YA. It's almost exclusively what I read now.
Which book was your first read?
My earliest series was probably The Black Stallion series.
Is it that books your all time favorite or you have others?
I have many, many favorites.
Also, tea or coffee?
Tea.
Btw I love you writing."

HI! I just wanted to say i loved your books! Last year i stumbled upon Reawakened and then the Tiger's Curse series. I'm so excited for the sequel! It's coming out 2 days before my birthday! Can you say, The best birthday present ever! Will we see Amon's other brothers during the series? Will this just be a trilogy, or four books, like the Tiger's Curse series?
Thanks!
~Hannah :)

Hi Hanny
Happy early birthday! You will definitely see Asten and Ahmose more in the second and third book. The Reawakened series is three books and a novella. The tiger series will be five books a novella, a spin off story for Wes (eventually) and possibly a few more novellas as time permits. =)

Colleen, all your books have such gorgeous covers! Who designs covers for your books and how much say/input do you have in the cover design?
What are your biggest tips for a new writer? What do you want the cover of Tiger's Dream to look like?
What is it like living in Oregon? (I have lived in WA, TX, NE, SC, and IL but not Oregon)
Do you have any pets? What are their names?
Thank you!!!
Louise wrote: "Just in regards to a spin off series for Tigers Curse, will there be a novella for Nilima"
You never know.

I love my book covers. I had the most input with Tiger's Promise and will have an equal amount of input on Reignited and Tiger's Dream since both will be published by me. Having said that, Delacorte (the Egypt series) has been amazing about asking what I like regarding covers. I send them tons of pins from my secret pinterest boards for inspiration.

Still undecided about the Tiger's Dream cover though I have some general ideas.
I have two dogs currently, named Murphy (after Mr. Kadam's pilot friend) and Bitsy. My old poodle who died in 2010 was named Prissy.
I love living in Oregon. The Northwest is the place for me.
My biggest tips are write and read what you love and sign up to go to local book conferences to pitch your books.

I always say I don't get writers block, I get writer's laziness or, sometimes, just plain exhaustion. I use pinterest for inspiration but really if I just sit down and re-read what I wrote the day before, I can usually keep going pretty well.

I just finished ARC af Recreated and what a roller coaster ride it was! This maybe a spoilerish question so I hope you can answer it. The first book is called Reawakened- we have Amon and his brothers who reawaken every 1000 years to save the world. What/who is behind the Recreated title. Is Lily recreated? (that's my interpretation)Also at the end of Recreated there is a story about the lion and the unicorn. Is this a story from Egyptian mythology or is it something you came up with? Thank you :)

The main inspiration for the Reawakened series is actually the pyramid. The number three is echoed over and over again in the series. I'll be talking about that on the upcoming blog tour.

Yes Lily is the inspiration behind the title. The original working title was The Heart of the Sphinx. The lion and the unicorn story was originally in the middle of the book but my editor felt it slowed the pace and opted to put it in the back as bonus material instead. This was something I totally made up. As far as I know there are no unicorns in Egyptian mythology.

Hello, Colleen! I'm curious. If you can choose one song to be the theme song of Recreated, what song will it be? And why?
what made you want to go with the number 3? I read a blog about this3 brothers all starting with "A"
3 pyramids
3 villains
and other details involving 3 that i think would be spoilers, so not gonna say them

It was the sides of a pyramid or a triangle that inspired me. I liked the point on the top and a pyramid looks like the letter A so I named my three mummies names that began with A.

did you have other names for your characters that you came up with before landing with Lily and the brothers?
when you wrote Recreated, did you have other endings or beginnings, change of scenes, that you had in mind but had to re-work it like the Tiger series?
who's is your favorite prince in the series? for some reason, i find myself not drawn to the first guy like Ren, but I fell for Kishan. Now in this series, I didn't fell for Amon or Asten, but I did for Ahmose
of all the characters in Recreated, is there one you see yourself as? like do you see yourself in Isis, Lily, Ma'at, etc?
when you were working on Recreated, did you use Pinterest to find inspirations of settings, characters, and fantasy creatures?
I Fell For Asten in Recreated :D
I Can't Wait for Reignited and Reunited!
I Can't Wait for Reignited and Reunited!
are the gods and goddesses of Egypt friendly? like are we as the readers gonna like them? i think there was a book i read once that one of the characters was creepy, but wasn't an antagonist
I think you have the trickiest love "triangle" if you can call it that. I have ever seen. In fact I have a feeling it's going to get even trickier. Where did that idea even come from?
for the creatures in the series, did you watch shows that explain about each of the creatures? I didn't know that you used the Mongolian Worm for Reawakened and I remembered watching an episode from "Lost Tapes" about it
judging by the pins you saved in Pinterest for "Recreated," would we come across some mermaids/sirens?
