Trying to find a book I read years ago-need help with a title.

Years ago I read a thin paperback book about a woman that was very ill, and got to visit heaven. I remember she had to cross a river as she entered, ate fruit that didn't get juice all over her, had a mansion built just for her, and spoke about how you were given a job according to your talents. It was such a neat book. Does anyone know? It was an older book...
