Why Read: There's a female President of the U.S. and a female Secret Service agent who are the focus of this book. I really appreciate the female central characters.
Comments: The President is under threat by terrorists in Paris. I got this for review before the Paris attack by ISIS terrorists. There's a great deal of violence and bloodshed, and it was quite a compelling read but I thought the plot was contrived. Rating B. See my review at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...
8)The Turquoise Ledge: A Memoir by Leslie Marmon Silko (diary) 319 pages. Source: Library Started: 11/21 Finished: 11/21
Why Read: Native American author wrote Gardens in the Dunes which I loved.
Comments: There is a great deal about her daily walks which I found uninteresting. She was also studying Nahuatl, the Aztec language, and I was fascinated with that. I hadn't known that she's an artist, so I was also interested in what she painted and how she was inspired. Rating B- See my review at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...
9)Wolf By Wolf by Ryan Graudin (YA alternate history) 384 pages. Source: Library Started: 11/22 Finished: 11/22
Why Read: This is about a Jewish girl who survived the Holocaust as an experimental subject in an alternate universe in which Germany won WWII. That sounded quite extraordinary.
Comments: This girl can assume new identities. The Resistance drafts her for a complex plot to kill Hitler that involves winning a motorcycle race from Berlin to Tokyo. Amazing story! Rating A. See my review at http://wwwbookbabe.blogspot.com/2015/...
