Years ago (easily could have been more than ten, perhaps even twenty), I read a book about a girl, who was going to college or perhaps a private boarding school. It *might* have been in Britain. Or New England? Somehow, her everyday life was getting crossed up in mythology or paganism come to life. I feel like there might have been something to do with Bacchus. Maybe...! There was also a boy, who might have actually been Pan (or someone like Pan) and something to do with birth control. I'm not sure this was a romance, probably it was not. It was probably some sort of young adult book.

I am laughing at myself because I realize how little this is to go on. But it has been driving me crazy for years, so I thought I would give it a shot.

Thank you!

willaful The birth control mention makes me pretty sure it's Pamela Dean's Tam Lin by Pamela Dean

Hi! Thank you to all of you. It is for sure not Secret History because I remember and love that book! But it definitely has some similarities to Secret History. I am going to check out Tam Lin. It is not ringing any bells yet, but that does not mean it's not it...

I now think it was Tam Lin by Pamela Dean! I have ordered it from Amazon and can't wait to reread it. Thank you again to all of you.
