i dont believe in changing a character especially if they're the main charactter nd they're fine the way they are. Don't fix what isn't broken. Hollywoood needs to stop ruining everything.

I really hope this isn't actually what they're turning the books into!!! This is insane!!!!! Why do they feel the need to twist Maxon's personality!!! The books were fine the way they were!!! The books are like already written scripts!!! (you just have to modify a few things) But seriously!!!

This script is "F"'ed up. What the heck were they thinking. Thank god this was not made into a actual show. This is like "X" RATED.

Good. I feel Maxon is never given a chance.

I completely agree! This is such a disgrace and I am so sad that this is what the human race is now. Society doesn't think that people like Maxon can exist. This would've been a terrible show and I think we are all grateful it wasn't made into one!

As a guy I found Maxon of this script insulting. I mean I think I'm like Maxon. I was raised to respect women. but I think society sees guys who are gentlemen wimps. girls never go for Maxon in real life.
I found everyone's character in this script insulting. They turned our chivalrous honest handsome kind Maxon into some kind if sex loving pig they turned our bright and strong America into this weak bratty dare I say stupid ditz they turned our passionate and honorable Aspen into OMG a freaking little bitch (excuse my language there was no other way to put it) they turned him into this prissy lurks girl with an ego they made king Clarkson weird they turned Amberly into some stubborn strict woman they turned Lucy into a slut! I mean honestly! what were they thinking?!

LOLLLLLLLLLL it could be but remember Aspen was annoying in this script too. I DO however believe wholeheartedly that this is not the real script because no matter what I'm certain kiera would not let ANYONE do this to her story

I had good parts but it wasn't well researched. Books need limited alterations when dealing with movie/tv scripts.
Ermm.. I squirmed even on the first page. Nuh-uh, I would puke! I can't believe they made Maxon into something like that >,< I mean, he's so mature and amazing in the book
Sabrina wrote: "Ermm.. I squirmed even on the first page. Nuh-uh, I would puke! I can't believe they made Maxon into something like that >,< I mean, he's so mature and amazing in the book"Oh ok. I dreaded what they did to Amberly. I know it was for tv but couldn't they stick with the plot if they couldn't come up with a believable plot?
I loved the selection book. I thought it had great characters, world building, and everything it needed. To admit, it was a little cliche with the guy deciding the girl but it was cute. Kiera Cass did a great job at opening up about her characters and not just focusing on the romance of the novel but what other things like the world around them and the injustice of how the kingdom was being ruled. Great novel. So when I heard that there was going to be a show about it I was so excited. I read the first plot and thought it was allot like the book and understood not everything can be just like the book. I was even more excited.
Then the last plot came out. When I was reading the first few pages I was in horror. I wanted to cry. What had they done to Maxon? Maxon who was portrayed very differently in the book. The writers took the plot and they twisted it into a chiche. First there was the player: Maxon. And of course later in the series America was going to be the only one for him blah blah blah all that unoriginal crap.
Then there was the world. Know the world was defeated by China because America couldn't pay their debt. IN the script it was technology that overthrew us. This is stupid mostly because technology, in almost every fantasy/ movie adaption is the thing that ends our race and our community.
It took the novel, took the characters we all have grown to love, and twisted them into people I couldn't even recognize. Maybe if they tried to incorporate a little bit of the ideas in the book into the show then it would be great. But no.
All they had to do was change the title of the last plot and the characters names and you wouldn't have even thought it was the selection.
It was sad.

Oh my gowd! THIS is horrible! Maxon is a total Jerk off! And Man- Whore! I'm so glad this didn't get picked up,--- I hope if they ever DO actually make the selection into a tv show that it's WAY better than this and that Karia has a say in how it's made..
See, this is why I resort to books. And its actually pretty sad that I prefer book boyfriends as opposed to real guys. Guys in the real world are such a-holes. I never once had a boyfriend in high school because all the guys at my school were just absolutely immature idiots. I would have loved to have been born sometime in the past where men were such gentlemen and they actually knew how to treat a girl respectfully. It actually really sickens me the way some guys treat girls these days. Its disgusting. And the fact that they changed Maxon from being a sweet and beautiful girl into this a-hole man whore is also disgusting. You would think the writers would try to see what we love about the books so they can adapt those aspects into show instead of just doing whatever the hell they want. If we love a certain book character the way they are then dont change them. Its as simple as that. And seriously? This is the message they were planning on giving the teen audience who would have watched this show? That its better to have a jerk as a dream guy rather than a sweet and loving guy? Cuz thats the message Im getting.
*sigh* Im getting pissed off now. How dare they try to change the most beautiful character in the story into something ugly. I dont even care if it was for character growth. No one in their right mind would prefer this to the beautiful and amazing book character that if Maxon. NO ONE!
Besides, Im glad this TV show fell though, even if it did have a decent script thqt was faithful to the books. I just dont think it would have been thqt successful. Like, what were they going to do? Drag the selection on for three seasons. The selection at most should end at the end of season 1 if they had 22eps. And then what? I actually think this seriee is more suitable as a movie franchise. I juet dont understand movie/tv show producers. They need to think about how suitable the content is to a movie or tv show.
Anyway, isnt The Selection going to be a movie now?
