Ilona | 4698 comments Megan,
I would definitely recommend you to read it if you're into historical fiction, and interested in WWII.
Similar to Between Shades of Gray, it gives insights in part of history that I hadn't read much about before., though I think that Salt to the sea has a better writing style.

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Another historical fiction selection - A Tyranny of Petticoats: 15 Stories of Belles, Bank Robbers & Other Badass Girls by Jessica Spotswood. Really enjoyed this short story collection! The stories were all well-written, and I loved the fact that each of the author's gave a short explanation at the end as to why they chose that particular category. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars

Given out my third five star rating in this challenge to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which is definitely worth reading!
I am finding so many good books that have been published this year.

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed another historical fiction - At the Edge of the Orchard by Tracy Chevalier. I appreciate Chevalier's writing, always have, but her characters are hit or miss for me. If I hadn't started reading this book at the airport, it would have taken me awhile to get into the story. Worth reading. 3.5 stars

It's ok, I understand. All challenges look so tempting at the beginning of the year.

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed another historical fiction selection - The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem by Sarit Yishai-Levi. I received this book as a giveaway. I had such trouble getting interested in this book! The first four chapters were just daughters hating their mothers. The real story-telling didn't start until after that. The story finally captured me, and I enjoyed it then. I understand what the author was trying to do with the beginning; it just didn't come together for me the way she expected. Worth reading if you can get through the beginning. 3.5 stars

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Hello All, Happy September! It is my favorite month of the year! Partially because my birthday is coming up, but mostly because fall starts, and I love all the fun the end of the year brings. School starts, sweater weather, snow! Lots of time to read.

I know I'm a few days late with August's statistics, but I was out of town away from my computer, so here they are: as of today, we have 63 participants. We have read 192 books of the 889 pledged, and 3 participants have completed the challenge!

Great job everyone!

I'm currently re-reading the Temeraire series and have the latest addition to the series ready to read (currently halfway through Tongue of Serpents, so not far to go now). What did you think of League of Dragons?
