I think the idea of increasing your goal as you go is a great idea--you never know what might come up in the year! Less stress that way!I read The Martian in March and it was much more enjoyable than I was expecting. I skimmed a lot of the science stuff though, but Mark's personality made the book work! And then the movie was great too because it had all the action with not much science.
I LOVE Little Women, though I haven't reread it in awhile. I keep meaning to have a year where I just reread all my faves, but my TBR keeps growing too much!!

I've been sprinkling in some re-reads this year. It's nice to go back to some old favorites.
