Mbluenagel (MariaAngel) | 4 comments Hi, I'm searching for this book title.

The main character is a girl, I think the daugther of the king of England. Some time before, she, her sister and her mother were having a picnic, someone gave them a poisonous apple/pie? and her mother died.

She has a big sister, the future queen and a little brother who is really sick. Her best friend is the daughter of a servant. They live in an isolated palace and their father works in another place.

At summer, they go to join their father and they are invited to a big event like a ball. However, the situation of England is not really good and a lot people are angry at the fact that royal family have the time to go at parties and etc.
So when the girl is at a ball, rebels come, kill her father, kidnap her siblings and the girl manage to escape to them. They want to kill the royal family to take their place. Now the girl is lost and have to live with the poor , but she got recrute to be in the rebel military camp. Since she lived in an isolated place, people don't know her face, but she have to lie about her name and her family.

So she train to combat, to kill and everything. At one time, they're hunting and one guy helps her. She falls in love with the guy, the (twin?)brother of the ''mean girl''. He's the one who let her escape the night when her father was kill and her siblings kidnapped. She also learn that he's the son of the chef of the rebels.

At one point, she is put in the prison and reunite with her siblings that are in a very bad form and the guy she loves come to help her to escape. The rebels are using her siblings so that she could come to save them, but they will just kill them. They are planning to kill them with a guillotine.

She go back to her palace to form alliance with people who love her father, but rebel soldiers come and try to kill her. She fakes her death so that the soldies will leave her alone and it works. After her and her people put a plan together and they go to attack the rebels, just before the guillotine kill her sister. (-----)

She's able to save her siblings and the rebels have calm down. Her sister have become the new queen and the girl is with the guy.

I read this book like 1-2 years ago, it's not a old book. It's not historical because it had modern settings like cars, trains, photographers ... It's also Standalone.

Standalone or part of a series? Author male or female? Cover art or photo?

Valerie (valeriekemp) | 274 comments What makes this story science fiction? What happens in it that is out of the ordinary in that way? Right now this description sounds more like historical fiction. I didn't see any science. What kind of time period does this take place in? Do you think this is a British book? What country did you read this in?

I think it's science-fiction because it takes place ,not in our world, maybe in the future ? It's not historical because it had modern things like train and limousine.
I read this book in Canada and I'm not really sure if it's a british book.
But well, I decided to remove science-fiction to avoid confusion.
