Book about girl who lives with elderly aunt, goes to stay with family, parents leave on trip to cure mother of illness, kids left with evil governess who later puts them in an orphanage where they're mistreated, people tell girls that parents die, boy who raises geese rescues them, parents are alive, governess gets caught. Edward Gorey did illustrations inside the american edition of the book. Originally published in england - sort of a young adult or kids chapter book. Thanks for your help.
