SOLVED. YA book series about horror short stories featuring kids who get punished? [s]

In the 90s I used to read a book series, more like a compilation as each short story were independent, not connected or following a gimmick or set in the same place like Goosebumps or Graveyard School did.

Each story featured a hero or heroine who would inadvertantly get killed or otherwise face doom due to their own bad choices. They were quite dark and horrific, may be NA instead of YA. The message of each story was basically 'don't be cruel or you'll face karma'

One I recall was a girl who made friends with a homeless girl living under a bridge, who collected toys like troll dolls. The homeless girl eventually 'collected' the other girl to add to her stash of victims, she was supposed to be a reimagining I think of the troll under the bridge.

NA (new adult) isn't just books for a certain age range, it's more specific - wiki says "New Adult fiction tends to focus on issues such as leaving home, developing sexuality, and negotiating education and career choices." It's also a very new concept, coined in 2009.

The series was After Dark, and the book was The Bent Back Bridge
