Anna | 505 comments I'm looking for a title of the book about a bunch of kids who lived in our modern day world and for some reason were chosen as "champions" who were supposed to save the parallel magical world. Sadly I don't remember what the threat to that other world was.

When they arrived they were not together, they found one another during the course of the book (and it was when they've first met, they weren't friends before their travel).

There were definitely three or more children and I think one was from a big city (I want to say it was Chicago but I'm not entirely sure about that).

I remember a part when a group of grown-ups attacked them (possibly with kidnapping in mind) and they scared these adults by pretending they have powerful magic. The truth was that they showed them some modern day device, like a flashlight or a Walkman.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated:).

Part of a series? Were there any other fantasy elements like witches, dragons, etc?

What makes these kids unique - do they have special powers?
Were they boys and girls?

How are they transported to the magical world - does it just happen or do they find a portal?

Allison (alianora) | 105 comments The Sword and the Chain? Teenagers transported to fantasy world, separated when they got there then they find each other.
