Maya picked up the glass of water and carefully stood up. She was tired at first, but was now filled with curiosity. Caleb was right. There was no way in hell she was going outside. Her muscles sore and achy, she shuffled around, peeking inside rooms and opening doors. Kitchen. Bathroom. Bedroom- she paused, poking her head inside. It was wrong to go pok I ng around in someone's personal space, she knew that. But curiosity killed the cat......... the cat in question spun away and shuffled back to the living room. Perhaps that wasnt much of a good idea. Instead she drained the glass of water and made her way to the window, cautiosly peeking out.

Maya watched him from the window and wrinkled her nose at the skunk weed. A few days earlier she had a very unpleasant experiance with the strange plant after accidentally stepping on one and promptly started gagging from the smell. When Caleb disapeared from sight, she started rummaging around in the kitchen cabinets for certain things., making sure to be careful when reaching for the high places. Pinapple juice, lemons, tomato paste. Having never ever ever ever really encountering skunk weed after that one time, Maya didnt really know how to get rid of the smell, but something had to work, right???

The she-wolf skid across the kitchen floor, feeling shards of shattered glass prick into the bottom of her paws. Get back here, cat! She dashed after Maya, through the living room, closing the distance between them with each step. Extending her muzzle, she grabbed hold of the back of Maya's shirt in her jaws. In that same moment, Caleb barreled directly into her side, knocking the she-wolf from her potential kill. Caleb stood, teeth bared, blood trickling down one of his shoulders, between Maya and the white wolf.

Caleb lifted his paw, slamming it down onto her head, knocking the white wolf onto the floor. Pain pierced through his injured left shoulders, crimson droplets dripping onto the ground. Go He barked at Maya, ushering her to find safety. His eyes flickered to the she-wolf, feeling torn. Could he really kill one of his own kind, in the defense of a cat he had confused feelings for? The white wolf was rising, the fur along her nape risen in anger; If Caleb was going to stand in the way of her prize, she'd have to get rid of him too.

Maya hissed, about to say something snappy about how she wasn't defenseless. Then the cat realized something. A couple of somethings actually. One, now was not the time to argue, and two.... She was defenseless, or close enough to it, anyways. And the she-wolf didn't look happy. The cat got to her feet and dashed out the door..... And stopped. She was outside.... But Maya couldn't leave Caleb like this. Despite barely knowing him, she couldn't just.... Leave him............. To be honest, she had no idea why. Mountain lions were solitary creatures. Normally Maya wouldn't have to be told twice. She would have been gone, never to return to this place. But something made her feel guilty. So she stood in the yard, gnashing her teeth in frustration
