Catch-22... Your thoughts???

I am honestly still struggling to finish this book. About 2/3 through, I am still looking for the plot. I do, however, see many crazy characters (actually all of them). The craziness was fun in the beginning, but it is getting old now. I find that I have to take this book in small portions to get through. Personally I prefer a story based on a plot rather than characters, and so far I see only characters, most of which leave me a bit dizzy. Better luck on the next one, I guess. :)
I am not struggling to not finish this book. I got more than halfway through the book and will not continue. I'm told that Yossarian is the main character but I find that debatable. I couldn't really tell you what this book is about. I do enjoy the authors sentencing and word choice. I appreciate the depth of description when it comes to characters/situations. There is nothing motivating me to read further and every chapter is painstaking. I don't understand how this book rose to fame.
Haha, well at least we are all seemingly in agreement so far with our first book. I never got very far with Catch-22. It did have its funny moments, but mainly I was annoyed with the dialogue between the characters and wanted more out of the story in general. I too am surprised this book is as well known as it is.
I agree with the above comments. The book was quite hard to get interested in. With all the concentration on and dialogue between characters, I found it somewhat hard to follow at times. I had to push myself to continue reading vs. reading because I enjoyed. Hopefully our next pick turns out better.

So what did everyone think of Catch-22? Was it what you thought it would be?
I personally had a difficult time with this one. I was uninterested in the characters and the plot. I found that it was funny at times, but I guess I wasn't invested that much in the overall story.
Did anyone else feel this way, or was it easy for you to dive into the plot?
