Wow just can't tempt anyone with that sweet deal can I? What if I said you could have unlimited access to the bar nd all the cyber cake you can eat? ;)
Immediately whizzed back (from several light years away) when I picked up the words 'bar' and 'unlimited access' on the radio. Is there any behind-the-scenes stuff you have to do which I don't know about?
Hailing from a fairly weird part of the Galaxy, I probably don't qualify; but, on the other hand, where better than in a Group like this to have a space-alien as moderator?!)

Hurray! A ship has picked up the signal from my distress beacon...
I'd say you actually HAVE to hail from a fairly weird part of the galaxy in order to qualify, Richard. The group promotes diversity so being an alien needn't hinder your ascent to MOD-hood. No real behind the scenes stuff. It's all about having an extra pair of eyes (or several!) on the threads. So if you're willing to scan the threads to check there's no bad behavior - such as bullying - going on (I have yet to see even a shirty comment between group members in this group yet - it does moderate itself pretty well), intervene delicately should a discussion start to get too personal or heated (again hasn't happened yet) and just generally welcome new members when they introduce themselves. If you have suggestions on activities or events you can put them forward and occasional participation in the book of the month club would be good but not essential. And that's really it.
Basically, if I am struck down with martian plague or similar affliction, it would be great to know that someone was keeping an eye on things in my abscence.
So, interested?

I've had martian plague as it happens (your mucus-sacs are out here).
Anyway, yep, I'll give it a go.

No...at least not after the usual paddling with rubber batons...kidding.
I've MOD-ified you now anyway so you stuck with it ;)

Actually, I'm still only two days in, but already my former life is fading to a hazy, comical (and faintly embarrassing) memory. As Confucius put it: 'What does the butterfly remember of its caterpillar days?'
This is why we need you, Richard - you bring sense and humour into our lives on the winged words of wisdom ;)
URGENT! YOUR GROUP NEEDS YOU!
We are now have over 460 members (last time I looked) and this is a very active group. Add to that the new projects - the Appraisal and Review project we've got goig on in the smaller source folder for instance, BOTM book club and now the blurb and cover feedback threads...Well it's a lot of work for a staff of two.
Richard, my wise two headed co-MOD, has been worth his weight in gold pressed latinum several times over. In fact I may instate a new group rule whereby he is not allowed to leave. Ever. ;)
When I started this group I had no idea it would become so popular. Obviously I'm pleased, especially as so many of you have said how friendly, supportive and fun it is - that's down to you folks.
BUT.
But we really could do with at least one, if not two, additional MODs to help us keep things tidy and running smoothly. Duties are not especially onerous, you put in what you can time wise and the perks include access to the MOD VIP area complete with private cyber bar and refreshments. It's not to be sneezed at ...and Richard and I are willing to share ;)
If you are interested, please PM me for more information.
No really, please do!

this group has grown substantially since I started it, and continues to do so. With that in mind I am looking for two other people to share the job of MOD.
Mostly this involves directing new comers; gently nudging people into putting posts in the right folders; welcoming newbies when they introduce themselves and general group admin - such as removing any offensive posts or bringing it to my attention if any trolling were to start happening. (We've had no instances of the last two since you're all such a lovely bunch of people so it's hypothetical but best to be prepared.)
You can also set up folders (within reason) for your favorite projects.
So I'm basically looking for a person(s) who can check in three - four times a week minimum, who loves this sort of genre fiction and wants to connect with and champion other Indie authors?
Any takers? Sign up below and give us a short statement on why you'd be a good MOD.
Cheers ;)
