Revenge (Travis Mays, #1) by Mark Young by Mark Young

Finished: June 5/14
Rating: 4 stars

Review:

I love a good mystery. I was a bit hesitant as I got this as a Kindle freebie and sometimes that is not good. What a surprise to finally read a book that has been edited correctly. What a really great story line and characters. Loved the twists and turns that kept me guessing. I thought I had it all figured out and then Bam!! another twist and I was like what what did you seriously just do that? Awesome!

Jagged (Colorado Mountain, #5) by Kristen Ashley

date finished: June 05
rating: ★★★
review:

Keep them coming. I love to read books written by KA. I totally enjoyed the Rock chick series and I started the Colorado Mountain series after a friend on GR recommended it to me to start next with. I loved Max (1st in series) and Tate (2nd book) and Ty (3rd in series) and would totally make them my book boyfriends.

I didn't warm up to "Ham" (this book) for a long time alias "only" 3 stars this time. This is not the book's fault but reflects entirely my personal taste. As I've mentioned before I seem not be able to enjoy the concept "friends who become lovers" and obviously this encloses also the concept "ex-lovers who become lovers again" (this book).

I enjoyed reading about Zara and totally got invested in her life and her problems. I hurt for her and cheered for her, despite my reluctance for Ham. It was only after the first half of the book that I started to feel for "Ham" (Graham Reece) as well and to understand his pains with his past and why he acts like he acts ("showing but not telling"). They made a good couple in the end.

I love how Ms Ashley breathes life into her characters, I love to read about the people who live in Gnaw Bone (awesome name for a town by the way), I totally could see myself living there if I had a mountain man. *lol*

I look forward to the next book in the series.

Raising Dragons (Dragons In Our Midst, #1) Raising Dragons by Bryan Davis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I got this book from netgalley. I enjoyed this book very much. It was a fun read for my grandchildren. The characters are well defined and written. The storyline is great. This magical world of dragons was a great read and kept us entertained until the very end. We would like to read more from this author and the next book in this series. Great job Bryan Davis.

Karla Week 7, spot 54
Option Fifth in series, Dawn and the Impossible Three
Finished 6/5/2014

Review: ***
This book is told from Dawn's point of view. I think the book was titled wrong. Dawn takes a babysitting job for a new client, Mrs. Barrett. The children are not the problem, Buddy, Suzi, and Marnie are no worse than the other children the girls watch. The problem is their mom. She's newly divorced and so disorganized that is causes poor Dawn a lot of problems!

Kaleidoscope (Colorado Mountain, #6) by Kristen Ashley

date finished: June 09
rating: ★★★★
review:

Finally, I made it to the Colorado Mountain man's most recent book which has been released this year (2014). I longed to hear Deck's story and was curious how it would unravel.

Deck is a PI of sorts who works by his own rules and now he gets contracted by the local police in Gnaw Bone to work a case with his longterm buddy Chace. (view spoiler)

I enjoyed reading about Emme a lot, as well as the uber alpha male Deck. Emme who kind of hides herself from others and spends her time alone for the most part finally comes out of her shell when she reconnects with Deck. The unfolding love story felt real and I was cheering for both of them. Deck had really to work to get Emme.

All in all I enjoyed the book although it had some flaws here and there. I look forward to another KA book in the near future.

Curtsies & Conspiracies (Finishing School, #2) by Gail Carriger
Date Finished: 6/9/14

★★★1/2

In 1800s England, Sophronia Temmenick attends a finishing school for girls that is actually a school for learning how to be a spy. The school is housed in a dirigible that is moored to the ground. In this installment, Sophronia works out the mystery of why someone is trying to kidnap her best friend, Dimity, and Dimity's brother, Pillover. It has to do with their parents' involvement in developing advanced technology for supernatural air travel. As a fan of the Parasol Protectorate (which is set a couple of decades after this series), my favorite part of these books is the familiar characters. Young inventor Vieve (aka Madame LeFoux), Captain Niall, Sidheag Maccon and of course, the cream of the crop, Lord Akeldama, the debonair dandy vampire. There is a lot of humor in the book, but I felt some of the jokes were overdone. Also, the author's use of unusual names (Prof. Shrimdiddle, Lord Dingleproops, Bumbersnoot) can be a bit distracting. Still I'll read the next one on the series, and I am really looking forward to the Prudence books next year.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the story, the story-line was decent. The characters were well defined and written. I feel it is a good ya love story and worth the read. I am looking forward to reading the next book, Clash. There were things that were a bit far-fetched, but as I have said before in reviews, that is what fiction is about.
