Hi all!! Yeah Teams posted. I'm Melissa - I'm from Chicago suburbs - where it obviously hasn't gotten the memo that it is SPRING!???!! As we got snow yesterday after having an almost 80 degree day on Saturday.... Oh well. We never really have spring here. I work full time. I'm an RN that does paperwork to get reimbursement for a nursing and rehabilitation facility.

We will need to decide who would like to be captain and think of a name for us. I'll try and think of some and get back.

Here in Denmark it's been unusually warm for the past few months. I only think we had snow 2-3 days during the winter and until now. That is extremely little. Last year the snow hadn't left until the middle of april.
Maybe you got all the snow. Thanks for that :)

I'm not good at being captain, so I think it should be someone else.

We did get way more than our fair share of snow this year - the kids loved it - they had 3 snow days. I have 2 kids a 14 yr old son (high school next year - nooooo!) and a 12 yr old daughter.

Ummmm you're a spring chicken, honey. I'm mid 40's - enjoy your 20's!! I'd love to re-visit my twenties :)

I love this series so far and I knew I would because I love the T.V. show so much (HBO's True Blood). The two are pretty similar still but I believe the next book is where they start to branch off more in their own. This follows Sookie Stackhouse , a southern telepathic waitress, who is dating her towns very first resident vampire. The other vampires in the surrounding areas have become aware of her "gift" and now expect her to help them by interviewing people to find out the truth in certain matters. Her boyfriend is needed in Dallas and she travels with him to assist and it gets crazy as ever with these books. They deal with vampires, shape shifters, maenads, werewolves. Pretty much an encyclopedia of supernatural creatures are presented through the series but this one is shapeshifters, vampires, and maenads. The Maenad herself is a very interesting character but I do love the way they represented her in the show more than the book. They just enhanced her character from what she started as that it became a little disappointing while reading because I wanted more of her and her story. There is a ton of mystery, adventure, Southern charm and sexy sexy vampires that makes these fun fast and addicting reads.One of my favorite things about this series is her phrasing and the way she adds the little Southern sayings in the book. It just adds so much to the characters and made me smile as I was reading it more than once. I loved it and can't wait to continue with the series.

This is the second book in the Unwind dystology and it did not fail!! Continuing the story of Conner, Lev and Risa, this continuation adds a few more interesting characters to the world of AWOLs. The safety base is no longer the haven they once thought it was for unwinds. Politics and new agendas have positioned it as nothing more than a bargaining tool just waiting to change everything. On top of it, one of the organizations has taken Unwinding to the extreme by creating Cam. Cam, however, coming to terms with reality outside of his master's sculpted plan, has his own agenda now that he knows the truth. Shusterman is so brilliant. His books are nothing less than astonishing, creepy and thrilling at the same time. His method of writing leaves you hanging on to each word. He doesn't waste time with page filled fluff. His writing is gritty, humorous and purposeful. His characters are so developed and real they take you on a fast, jerking roller coaster of high love, low hate and everything in-between! I know the next one will not disappoint.

Review: Wow - I liked this one much better than book #1. I felt like Mac maybe sort of figured out what he was putting Tony through with his need to be in the closet. To an extent I even understood his need to be in that closet. But we all know it becomes very hard to live your life with that big of a lie going on. Lots of further character development, especially for Mac. Lots of emotions with this one - I had a few ' ' oh no you didn't moments ....OMG you really did just do that',lol. Eagerly anticipating what will happen in the next book.

Review:
This book starts after Chloe has been captured by the group called 'Edison Group.' Chloe soon finds out that she and the rest of the gang from Lyle House is part of an experiament for teenagers with paranormal powers. She also notices that they might want to get rid of her (meaning they want her dead). So she has to figure out how to escape. The sooner the better. Chloe and Tori manages to escape, with the help of Liz and join forces with Darek and Simon. Most of this book is about Chloe and the other 3 on the run.
I still really like this series. It's fast paced and good writing. I also feel like the characters have developed a bit more. Especially Chloe and Darek.
I also think that Kelley Armstrong is good at writing unexpected twists which makes you want to keep on reading (luckily I have the next and final book right here beside me:) )

Review: I'm really liking Kaje Harper! John is a divorced landscape architect who has recently moved to be nearer to his children and took a Landacaper's job at the college - only to have his ex wife move to California with his kids. Ryan had been a firefighter who got caught in a burning building crushing his leg. No longer able to be a fireman he has gone back to Med school. Two men whose lives have changed drastically and how crazy when they find comfort, friendship and maybe more from another man. This is a really good double gay for you book. Slow buildup of friendship to romance was fabulous. Nice that both had second thoughts and not everything was perfect. (view spoiler) I think Kaje may be my new favorite author.

What an interesting book. It is rare that you find an individual like Morrie. His views on life are so simplistic yet so fulfilling. Mitch interpreted Morrie as an compassionate soul who seemed to touch and inspire everyone he came in contact with. Morrie forces the reader to examine his/her own life and make thought inducing glimpses into the future. His response to ALS through each stage of progression is horrifying and almost admirable at the same time. Morrie really had an understanding of himself and was at peace with who he was and
what he was leaving behind. Really good read overall.

Sooo I really don't know what to say about this book. I loved it and I hated it for a million reasons. I didn't like the cheesiness of it (the names ; Wrath and Zsadist , etc. etc. the brothers all just had crazy names, then some of the dialogue was cringeworthy and most of the situations were just super unrealistic. )Now , I understand this is a vampire book so maybe realistic was a lot to ask for but this was just so out there it hurt sometimes. As you noticed though I gave it 4 stars because I ended up liking this so much because even with all these things I really enjoyed reading this and just letting my mind relax and take it in. Its like a guilty pleasure that you go to when you just want to have fun and follow all the characters to see how they progress through time , really a lot like a soap opera. You want to just give the author permission to take you away into this world and you will suspend any rules or expectations that you would hold for other books. So I will absolutely be continuing with the series. The sexy parts were really sexy and it did really help that because it is such a huge series I chose a dream cast for the main characters and I was really happy I did because there is no way that I would be able to keep all these people separate while reading. I am officially a Black Dagger Brotherhood fan its so much fun.:O) Heres my dream cast for some of the characters.

Review:
Phoebe MacNamara is an unusual woman. Ever since she as a 10 year old was held hostage with her family, she's known what she was supposed to do when she grew up. Now she's one of the best hostage negotiators in Savannah. A status that sometimes leads to jealousy from the male colleagues.
Privately Phoebe is a single mom with a 7 year old daughter and she also lives with her agoraphobic mother. It's during her job she meets Duncan Swift. She slowly starts to develop strong feelings for him.
One day Phoebe is attacked brutally at the police station. She doesn't see the attacker and is in doubt if it's a cevil or if one of her own colleagues could actually do that. Shortly after she starts receiving creepy messages by her doorstep, and she has a strong suspision that someone is following her.

I have a hard time reviewing this because in the beginning I felt it was a little slow and thought that it was alright but nothing extraordinary, but then about halfway through the book everything changed and that part is 5 star worthy. (view spoiler)
I thought the writing was great all the way through even though the start was a little slow. The characters were believable and I really liked Duncan. All in all this was a great book I give it 4 stars and I would definitely recommend it if you haven't read it yet.

A great story. I really enjoyed taking this ride with the Percy Jackson it was very entertaining. I love the characters and they didn't see, immature for 12 year olds. Hi , Sorry about the late check in didn't really think to check on here until it started. I am 35 years old and I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been watching all the crazy weather and the snow. I have lived in it before but it just seems to never end this year. Over here the weather doesn't really change , we get trade winds pretty frequently and that "cools things down" but cooling down over here is enough to keep you from sweating for a few hours. I was in the Navy and got out but then married right back in so that's why we move every four years. I am not confident being captain so it sounds like Melissa is our great leader. :O)

I've lived my whole life in the states and have never made it to those states. I do want to go someday. I've always wanted to do a weekend in NY - go shopping and see a play. In the next couple of years we want to take our kids to Washington DC.
I loved London - we did 5 days in London on our honeymoon. It was really wonderful - a little chilly for August but still had a good time.

Review:
Amazing Sequel. It picked up exactly where the last one left off and gave me an conclusion to some of the things that happened in book 1. I was excited to see more of the others and enjoyed the explanation of what Tess is and to see more humans that are different appear in the story. Anne is crafty and amazing when she is building her worlds and weaves a tale that is so amazingly breathtaking.

My Review:
Claire Danvers lives in the Glass House in Morganville with her 3 roommates Michael, Shane and Eve. With Shanes father having suddenly shown up to slaughter all Vampires, they're all four suddenly in danger. When Shane gets falsely accused of having killed the vampire Damon, he's sentenced to death. Now Claire, Eve and Michael must do everything in their power to save Shane.

I found I really enjoyed this book. At first I was a little annoyed with some of the characters, but after Shane was captured it was hard to put the book away. I think I started liking Claire a lot better in this book. I'm happy that Claire and Shane's relationship changed a bit too.
Rachel Caine has really managed to write an action filled book.

Review: Crazy Stephanie Plum is back at it! Desperate for money and out of options, Stephanie takes the job of a bounty hunter in the first book. The job is simple...find the person who skipped out on bail and bring them in...get your cash. Easy enough. Ha! Stephanie has encountered some hilarious scenarios and it doesn't end in the second book. She is going after yet another scum and finds herself needing the help of good 'ole Morelli. Grandma Mazur had me in stitches with her crazy, gun-totin' self! Stephanie also gets a little help from Lulu who has now had a change of careers. While trying to bring in Kenny, she goes through some tough situations and has to rely on her instincts to get the man and bring him in. Overall, Evanovich's writing is not great. She writes to entertain not to provide some deep, written material of which to ponder and create meaningful conversations. She wants to keep you on your toes and give you a good laugh in the process. Mission accomplished.

Review: We meet Law in book #1 and hear about his past with Styx (CIA). Then he meets Paulo, the detective who helps with the rapes that are occurring in the alley behind the club that Law owns w/Damon. He has an instant attraction to Paulo and is pissed at himself as he doesn't want to feel anything for anyone after what he went through after Styx walked out the last time. So of course the story begins with Law and Paulo on a date. Who shows up on a covert operation - yep that would be Styx undercover. Styx's past has finally caught up to him and has come after his past lover who he has never been able to forget about. So what happens when all three of them are snow bound in a cabin together?? Totally hot book. Was such a fun read! I loved all three character, taking into account that obviously both Law and Styx were gonna be a pain in the ass,lol.

Ms America and the Villainy in Vegas Ms America and the Villainy in Vegas (Beauty Queen Mysteries, No. 2) by Diana Dempsey
I love these books !!! I feel like I can not say that enough , I am not a huge fan of humorous books but this one is amazing. I love the whole beauty queen aspect of the story, I love all the supporting characters, they are really all entertaining and they are so well developed , for such a quick read you really get a complete range of stories for each. Happy is married so she competes in Ms. America so its a little different then all the kiddie pageants that people are used to seeing. She is a grown woman with a daughter going into college and her and husband are just starting to really live their dreams now as they enter this new phase of their lives. He is in pit school in North Carolina , thanks to some of her prize money from winning the pageant in Oahu. There is another mystery to solve and Happy is more than "happy" to get her hands right back in and try to join with the local police and help solve the case with her amateur but very effective sleuth abilities. The dialogue makes me laugh out loud , her phrasing is so perfect. Happy is a character that I would love to be best friends with. She is classy and hilarious, extremely curious ,resourceful, accomplished and above all else she's truly passionate about her friends and family. I love the relationship between her and her mother , it rings very close to home with me. It is not the perfect "mother /daughter baking together, picture they have struggles but there is a certain "even if she doesn't always deserve it , I will take care of her and show her love" way about them. I really hope Diana Dempsey writes more of these , there are 2 more one in Miami (another place I know well because I grew up in South Florida) so that will be really fun to read. The first one was in Oahu , where I live now( I even went to one of the real places they mentioned for lunch after I read the first one). Then the 4th one is in Winona, Minnesota and its Christmas theme which should be fun, but I read on Ms. Dempsey's website that she wanted to do an international pageant theme so I am really hoping that comes to fruition. I could read these all in one weekend but they are so fun I am trying to make myself time them right so Im reading the Christmas one closer to Christmas but we will see if I can hold out. These books do an amazing job of really highlighting the cities they mention they give you a clear picture of what it would be like if you were there. I've been to Vegas but it made me want to go back and do some of the things her and her friends did there (especially the spa treatments) I know that these books are ones that I will be very glad I own so I can reread the series whenever I want to. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys a good mystery and wants to take a little vacation contained in the pages. (hide spoiler)]

3rd book in the series

So again I love this series !! This book finds Sookie is a weird place in the relationship with Bill. He is working on some kind of "secret project" spending way too much time on the computer that he shields from her as she passes by. When he randomly gives her a solemn speech of what to do if anything happens to me , she starts to see things are a bit of a mess. So while he is gone the trouble levels rise and she is need of protection , which comes in the form on many including the sexiest werewolf , sexiest vampire, and sexiest bar owner/shapeshifter, ever !! (just my opinion) That in itself adds to the chaos levels but as she goes to Mississippi to investigate and hopefully find Bill she has to visit Club Dead as the book is titled, which is a vampire bar but on a whole other level than Eric's. It is a seedy and dangerous place and from there the stuff hits the fan. There is a ton of sexy scenes, action, horror, humor, and jealousy jammed into this book which makes it a 5 star for me. This is the heart of where you really see how the men in this series feel about Sookie and it stems out from there, which I am more than excited about seeing how it progresses I feel like this is all new to me even though I've practically memorized some of the scenes from the show because in this particular book you start to really see how it was originally supposed to be before the rating worriers got their hands on it. Honestly, I am loving both versions so I will happy to move on to the next one to continue to discover how Ms. Harris really had all of this work out. Super fun and super fast read

Review: This is Kyle's book - Jordan's (heroine) twin brother from book #2. The Twitter Terrorist gets his get out of jail free card. Kyle and Rylann (newest US Attorney in Chicago office) met 9 yrs earlier while both in college and had agreed to a first date. Said date never occurred as Kyle's Mom was in a car accident and died. Each go off their separate ways. Rylann now needs Kyle's assistance as he may have overheard something while in solitary confinement that may convict a guard. Kyle wants nothing to do with the US Attorney's office and who can blame him. However, he is unable to resist Rylann's pull. This was a cute sweet romance. Total light fluff read. My only issue was that Rylann seemed to pull the ex-con card a little too much IMO. He shut down Twitter. He didn't kill anyone, rob a bank or sell drugs, etc. So for me that part got a tad old. Other than that an enjoyable read.

Review:
This book takes place in Cincinnati, where all of the creatures of the night gathers. Rachel Morgan is a witch, who resigned her job as an Agent. After taking a Vampire with her, the company has given a price for her head. This book follows Rachel Morgan, as she tries to survive the numerous attacks, as she tries to fight for her freedom.
This was an exhilarating first book of this series. I loved the world Kim has created, and it was full of action mostly from the beginning. I kept thinking I knew what would happen, but still ended up surprised by the events.
I just think it lack something, I don't know what it is, I just don't feel like it's a 5 star read, but it was a really great book, and would recommend it to you all if you haven't read it.

Three to Get Deadly (Stephanie Plum, #3) by Janet Evanovich - Book 3/ Stephanie Plum series
Stephanie Plum goes after a perfect saint and owner of the neighborhood candy store in book #3. As she is criticized for taking the assignment on bringing in "Uncle Mo", dead bodies are adding up and Uncle Mo is no where to be found. Stephanie, being the worst bounty hunter known to man, manages to drive everyone crazy while once again barely escaping death herself. While her skills are quite laughable, what she does have is guts. She lacks the ability to be discreet and fearful which plays to her advantage at the dismay of everyone else she comes in contact with. Her partner in crime, Lula, is taking the role of bounty hunter-in-training pretty seriously and has no filter or tact making encounters with suspects downright laugh-out-loud hilarious. This is my favorite one so far. The whole gang is there- Morelli; Ranger; Grandma; etc. and they all contribute in their own way to making this series quite enjoyable.

@Melissa - Well you can never be sure about great weather in London. It's kinda the same in Denmark. I never really believe what the weather guy says. The weather is unpredictable.

Well the funny thing is I had packed some sweaters - dear hubby in all his *cough* wisdom - unpacked them telling me I wouldn't need them - LMAO he ended up buying me sweater(s) while we were there. Oh and he removed books from my luggage too - he ended up having to buy me books once we got to Greece as I had finished what I brought. 20 yrs later - he still attempts to ask me if I need everything I've packed >.<
Really - I about bit his head off when I was traveling (alone) with our newborn son and he was arguing over what I needed to bring

@Melissa - Haha, well guys doesn't think as far as us women do :) We plan ahead and pack for all kinds of weathers. Sometimes you don't need it all, but it's always nice to have on hand. Especially when you go somewhere like London, where there's a 50% chance of rain every day or something like that.
At least you got something out of it. It's always nice to get new clothes and books.
