Rating: 5 Stars
Finished: May 9, 2014
Review:
Amazing Sequel. It picked up exactly where the last one left off and gave me an conclusion to some of the things that happened in book 1. I was excited to see more of the others and enjoyed the explanation of what Tess is and to see more humans that are different appear in the story. Anne is crafty and amazing when she is building her worlds and weaves a tale that is so amazingly breathtaking.

I am glad you enjoyed your book Nika :O) I have a massive headache so I don't think Ill be doing anymore reading today but this week I will be reading Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #3) by Charlaine Harris Book 3 in the Sookie Stackhouse series .
One side note : Is anyone excited about watching Penny Dreadful on Showtime , it starts on May 11th but the first episode is already online and on Showtime on Demand and I watched it and it is so so amazing ! It reminds me a lot of True Blood int he filming and sexiness but its a darker version of the League of Extraordinary Gentleman pretty much. Super dark , super sexy , you can't beat that combination to me , so excited for this series I really hope they do a media tie in later. I have Showtime but on my cable company which is Time Warner they are having a free weekend today through the 11th .

Elle Way to go Nika! I'm going to continue with book 3 in The Stephanie Plum series... Three to Get Deadly (Stephanie Plum, #3) by Janet Evanovich

message 213: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments I'm considering reading a title with a D.

either one of these Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison Deadly Aim (Angel Delaney Mysteries, #1) by Patricia H. Rushford

Has anyone got a suggestion on which I should start with?

message 214: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments I'm glad you liked the book Nika, what's the prequel called? Just considering since you gave this one 5 stars I wanted to check it out :)

message 215: by [deleted user] (new)

I have the first 2 of those books and of course I love Sookie Stackhouse series but I have also heard nothing but good things about Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison and would love to hear what you think of it . So I guess I'd vote for that one but it's up to what you want to read at the moment. :O) I think any of those would be good reads.

message 216: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments Thanks for the advice. Those are also the books that I'm leaning mostly toward at the moment :)
(Wasn't really planning on reading them this month though)

Anita Reads | 436 comments I decided I wanna go with Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison and I'll read the other books another time. :)

message 218: by [deleted user] (new)

I hope you enjoy which ever you choose. I just bought a good "D" book or at least Im hoping it is going to be good. I read about it in a magazine a couple of months back and I would have used it but I need to read my Sookie book (Im reading 1 a month) but its called The Deadliest Game by Hal Ross and its a hi tech thriller but the cool thing about this book is that the man is writing about a main character in the toy industry and he himself actually helped launch "Jenga" and marketed Slinky and Etch a Sketch before becoming a writer. So it really should be super interesting . But if you get it buy it on Amazon its only $1.99 (or if you have the lending feature I can lend it to you) if anyones interested because on the Barnes and Noble site it is $12.99. I can't wait to read it but way too many book obligations right now.

message 219: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments 1,99 $ is really cheap. I mostly use Amazon.com for kindle purchases, but Amazon.co.uk for real books, because the frieght charges are a little high from the states :)

If anyone knows anything about this error message:

The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)

Please let me know if there's anything I can do or if it's only the admins of the app who can manage it?

Week 4 Spot 36
Read : Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #3) by Charlaine Harris finished : May 14th
5 stars !
3rd book in the series

So again I love this series !! This book finds Sookie is a weird place in the relationship with Bill. He is working on some kind of "secret project" spending way too much time on the computer that he shields from her as she passes by. When he randomly gives her a solemn speech of what to do if anything happens to me , she starts to see things are a bit of a mess. So while he is gone the trouble levels rise and she is need of protection , which comes in the form on many including the sexiest werewolf , sexiest vampire, and sexiest bar owner/shapeshifter, ever !! (just my opinion) That in itself adds to the chaos levels but as she goes to Mississippi to investigate and hopefully find Bill she has to visit Club Dead as the book is titled, which is a vampire bar but on a whole other level than Eric's. It is a seedy and dangerous place and from there the stuff hits the fan. There is a ton of sexy scenes, action, horror, humor, and jealousy jammed into this book which makes it a 5 star for me. This is the heart of where you really see how the men in this series feel about Sookie and it stems out from there, which I am more than excited about seeing how it progresses I feel like this is all new to me even though I've practically memorized some of the scenes from the show because in this particular book you start to really see how it was originally supposed to be before the rating worriers got their hands on it. Honestly, I am loving both versions so I will happy to move on to the next one to continue to discover how Ms. Harris really had all of this work out. Super fun and super fast read !

About That Night (FBI / US Attorney, #3) by Julie James
#3 in FBI/ US Attorney series
Completed: 5/12/14
Rating 4♥

Review: This is Kyle's book - Jordan's (heroine) twin brother from book #2. The Twitter Terrorist gets his get out of jail free card. Kyle and Rylann (newest US Attorney in Chicago office) met 9 yrs earlier while both in college and had agreed to a first date. Said date never occurred as Kyle's Mom was in a car accident and died. Each go off their separate ways. Rylann now needs Kyle's assistance as he may have overheard something while in solitary confinement that may convict a guard. Kyle wants nothing to do with the US Attorney's office and who can blame him. However, he is unable to resist Rylann's pull. This was a cute sweet romance. Total light fluff read. My only issue was that Rylann seemed to pull the ex-con card a little too much IMO. He shut down Twitter. He didn't kill anyone, rob a bank or sell drugs, etc. So for me that part got a tad old. Other than that an enjoyable read.

Anita Reads | 436 comments Week 4 - Spot 36
Alternate: Title D
Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison
Completed: 05/14/14
Rated: 4 ★

Review:
This book takes place in Cincinnati, where all of the creatures of the night gathers. Rachel Morgan is a witch, who resigned her job as an Agent. After taking a Vampire with her, the company has given a price for her head. This book follows Rachel Morgan, as she tries to survive the numerous attacks, as she tries to fight for her freedom.
This was an exhilarating first book of this series. I loved the world Kim has created, and it was full of action mostly from the beginning. I kept thinking I knew what would happen, but still ended up surprised by the events.
I just think it lack something, I don't know what it is, I just don't feel like it's a 5 star read, but it was a really great book, and would recommend it to you all if you haven't read it.

message 238: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments Nice job everyone!

Anita - I kind of felt the same when I read it - I think sometimes book 1's of a series has a lot of world building, characters and back story thrown at you that it is a lot to take in. Usually book 2 is really good then since it can be all story.

message 239: by [deleted user] (new)

Great Job ladies we are getting done early this week and enjoying all of books :O) That's the best part.

message 240: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments @Melissa - Yeah, maybe that's why.

By the way, do you know if the In Death series by J.D. Robb is good as audio, I saw that I could buy the first 5 pretty cheap in audio, but wouldn't buy them if it was a bad narrator.

message 241: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments I haven't done these in audio but I just went to peek at books 1 & 2 on here. A couple of my friends do audio books all the time. They said she was great - Susan Erickson w the audio. How on sale are they? I'm curious....

message 242: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments Well, for once it was cheaper for me to buy it over a Danish website, but it was around 40 $
I know it's not super cheap, but if I have to buy the books it's a lot more expensive, even on the kindle, and they don't have the books at the library here, which I find a little odd.
Plus I thought it would be a good idea to get some audiobooks to listen to while I'm cleaning or cooking dinner or something

message 243: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments That's not too bad - less than $10 a book. I've been doing the whisper sync w kindle when it's avail and not too expensive. I did spend more than I wanted for IAD series recently but listening was actually easier than reading as I find keeping track of all the characters difficult.

Have to say right now listening to Poughkeepsie (Poughkeepsie Brotherhood, #1) by Debra Anastasia damn this is a long audio. I've been trying to sneak listening to it at work as I usually just listen to/from work. Almost done and it has been really good.

message 244: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments Yeah, that's also what I was thinking. I love 'buying' the free kindle books, sometimes there are some really good one's in between.

10 $ is nothing here in Denmark, usually one book is about 30 $ due to our crazy taxes =/

message 245: by ~Melissa~ (new)

Yikes $30 - I have trouble spending $8 for an ebook. I can't imagine spending $30 for a book - I'd have to find a new hobby.

message 246: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments I know. It's because of the taxes, everything is more expensive here. we pay 25% taxes on all articles no matter which product group it is. Also, 40 % of our salary goes to taxes =/
But then we don't have to pay to go to school, the doctor etc. We actually get student pay after turning 18 while taking an education.

message 247: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments Well then - it probably evens out. No pay here while you go to school and you pay for that yourself (college). Our taxes do pay for K-12. Health insurance is a big chunk out of the paycheck as well and then it doesn't always pay for entire visit/doctor needs.

message 248: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 436 comments Yeah, that's the conclusion we've come to as well.
I think there are a lot of things we take for granted here :)
